Question

creating 5.1 with amp, arc ultra and sub 4

I want to create a 5.1 surround setup.

I have a Sonos Arc Ultra, a Sonos Sub (Gen 4), and a Sonos Amp with two ceiling speakers.

When I play regular music, all speakers work fine. However, when I watch a Netflix movie with Dolby Atmos or a YouTube video with surround sound, the ceiling speakers don’t do anything. Only The sub and arc ultra works.

What am I doing wrong? Or is this setup simply not possible?

Did you follow the instructions at the FAQ?

Essentially, when you look in your controller, are all the Sonos devices in the same ‘room’ or do you have to ‘group’ two rooms? If the former, that suggests your Arc Ultra isn’t receiving a 5.1 signal, if the latter, then your system isn’t set up properly yet.

I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, their lawyers get sensitive about GDPR.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
