Thank you all for your input in the community. I have an older Sonos soundbar with an optal icconnection cable, but my new TV lacks the port to support it—is there any way I can still use the soundbar?

You will need something like this…

Your TV probably will have a HDMI ARC input. So this is the way to get audio out to an external audio device.

There are lots of devices that change HDMI sound to optical. Most are HDMI switches (search Amazon for examples), and a quick search of these forums will turn up lots of suggestions.
