We bought a new Samsung QN75Q8BA 2021 with eArc and no matter what content we try playing, we cannot get Atmos to display as the audio type on the Sonos app.  I also notice the pass through option under the tv settings is typically grayed out.  All other átmos options are enabled in the tv settings.

what am I doing wrong ?

it took a while to realize that

A. YouTube doesn’t steam in Atmos which renders all the Dolby atmos tests on there useless. All while folks in the comments are clueless of the fact.
B. Netflix only streams Atmos with Premium subscription.

I am streaming my content from Amazon Prime and Disney + via native tv app.

if there is a better way to sample atmos like a website where you can specially test the upward firing speakers, please do let me know.

As you can see, Pass through is grayed out.

Try turning off eARC. Also check if Pass-Through is available after turning off eARC. If it still doesn’t play Dolby Atmos audio, you might be dealing with this recent issue with the latest Samsung firmware update:

Here is a Dolby Atmos 5.1.2 test tones file. Put the file on a flash drive and insert it into your TV’s USB port:

Thank you so much for that file! I just read somewhere else that apparently Jack Ryan is one, if not the only movie that actually streams Dolby Atmos from Amazon Prime.

sure enough I just popped it on and for the first time ever the sonos app displays what I’ve been desperately  hoping for!!

Prime Video has very limited Dolby Atmos content. Here are the only options that I am aware of:

Jack Ryan

The Tomorrow War

Suspiria

Carnival Row

Here are more Dolby Atmos videos you can test with:

The tomorrow war did not come through as Dolby atmos for me.  Thanks again for your useful links!
