I currently have an Arc and a sub on my TV set up. I’m wanting to go surround sound. I already have a play 5 gen2 and was wondering if I would be better off getting another play 5 and having them as the rear pair or getting 2no play 1SLs?

That’s a pretty far distance from your Arc. I hope you have a large TV.

I think two Play:5s right behind you will overpower the audio from the Arc that is 6 meters away. I think the One SLs as surrounds would be the better option.

How large is your room? If you have a smaller room or if you are seated close to your surround speakers, Play:5s as surrounds might be overkill.

It’s a big room but the rears will be right behind us

How close are you seated from the Arc?
