Ready to buy a Beam gen 2 and a couple of IKEA surrounds. Want to make sure that I will be able to control the system volume through my Sony xr-55x93j remote which is Bluetooth and not infrared ( (IR).

If your Sony TV supports CEC commands and you connect your Beam via an HDMI ARC or eARC with an HDMI cable, then yes.
