Hi everyone

having a problem with beam and fives as surrounds today when listening to music using Sonos app playing Apple Music when I select

sound to full mode for music it won’t change keeps playing in ambient mode I’ve tried everything is any one else having this issue

I’d imagine it’s a local issue if it has started today. If you’ve tried everything then it’s very hard for anyone to give any advice.

But just in case that everything didn’t include the following: Try turning off the speakers at the wall, logging out of the app and force closing it, then turn the speakers back on (wait for their white lights) and log back into the app.

I will give that a try

and also when I unpair fives from beam app says beam not connected when I click on the box to connect it doesn’t the only way I can resolve issue is unplug beam from mains power then plug back in then it connects strange

what I will try with the first issue is connected the fives to the beam then play music through Apple app then open Sonos app and then see if I can change to full mode

it is annoying my set up is beam gen 2 and 2 fives and 2 gen3 subs s he sound is amazing when all connected together so ATM with this problem I have 2 fives and one sub connected

and have beam and sub connected

Just checking on something you said - when you connect the Fives to the Beam, are they for surrounds? And if so, are you ensuring you use the Add Surrounds function in the Beam’s settings (same with Add Sub) rather than just grouping the Fives with the Beam? It’s just you mention ‘unpairing the Fives from the Beam’ which one wouldn’t usually do once they are bonded to the Beam as surrounds.

Hi

yes i bonded the fives using the add surrounds to beam same as add subs

Just checking! Only that it would be a reason why Full isn’t working. But anyway, try what I suggested and see if it helps bring Full back…

Thanks for your advice I will try tomorrow I will keep you updated how I get on

I reset the Sonos app then added everything to beam still same problem

I listened to music through Apple airplay

The surrounds was playing in full mode

I opened the Sonos app with music still playing

went to surrounds changed to ambient then back to full working fine

so the problem is with the Sonos app if you play music surrounds stay on ambient

Glad you’ve found a way to get it working. That does sound very odd- I just tested my own home theatre, playing music through the Sonos app and switching back and forth between Full and Ambient and it responds each time. So it not a universal issue but it would be worth contacting Sonos to report it and they can look at your system details to see what might be preventing you changing that setting when playing music from the app?

I will try one last thing I will remove Apple Music from Sonos app then reinstall if the problem still persist I will contact Sonos

thank you for your help

I removed Apple Music then reinstalled working ok now

does anyone know when the new Arc2 and new sub will be released

No. No-one knows. Sonos doesn’t announce its release timings in advance - and with two new unnamed products for Q4 now postponed until sometime in 2025 while the app is fixed, the chances of finding out any product release timings is practically nil.

(Glad you got Apple Music sorted. Who knew it would be as simple as that after everything we tried…?!)

That will be interesting with the new arc they supposed to have a new woofer design a 3.5 inch bass speaker will sound like a 8 inch speaker if it sounds fantastic maybe no need to buy new sub cos the sub will take the low end away from arc I think I will have to listen to a demo before I buy

Yes, I heard that Sonos acquisition of another company might have opened up the opportunity to get a rich bass sound from a smaller speaker cone, so that could be very interesting in saving space on a Sub - but I have also seen mention of a price in the region of $1,200-1,500 for the Arc 2 so perhaps not saving money vs two separate speakers…!
