Arc volume control

Have the sonos arc plugged into the tv using eARC and I’m having an issue with it not responding to volume control from the cable or TV remote. I also have it connected to gen 3 sub and 2 play one SL.

If I’m watching tv on my Sony Bravia X850G for a long period of time and need to adjust the volume, it won’t respond. The volume indicator will show on the screen but actual sound won’t increase/decrease. I have to power cycle the tv and wait about 5 min to turn it on for it to be able to control the volume. Is this an issue with my tv or the arc itself? Had the playbar before the arc and it never did this.

Yes, perhaps see attached screenshot. The Infrared is just for use with your chosen remote. You could also perhaps try the IR pass-through option instead (just below it) and see if either option fixes your issue.

Just as a thought...

If the volume up/down is showing on the TV screen display, that appears to infer the IR signal is getting through either to the TV or the Arc’s IR Receiver (or both) - have you maybe tried toggling off the Arc IR to see what happens in those circumstances?
Does the volume control work any better with it switched off, leaving the TV to control the Arc’s volume over HDMI-CEC?

Noob question, but Are you able to turn off the arc’s IR if it’s connected as surround?

How do you connect an Arc as surround speakers? I was under the impression it was only allowed to be the ‘front’ soundbar in a home theater set up.

i am having an issue that that I have to reboot my TIVO box in order to see the image on the TV.

I connected as suggested by SONOS. my sonos soundbar arc into the hdmi arc ( on my sony tv xbr90ch is HDMI 3  and my tivo to HDMI 4 as suggested.

That isn’t a Sonos issue, unfortunately. Since the TiVo is connected to the TV, there is some issue with either the cable, or the TV set.

This seems like a completely unrelated issue, and very unlikely to have anything to do with Sonos.  Are you getting sound with no image or nothing at all?  Are you making sure your TV is set to HDMI 4? Do you have anything else connected besides TiVo and Arc?  Do you use the TVs smart apps?

It’s not clear which of the suggested settings you have tried, switching off the HT IR on its own, or just it’s pass-through?

Is it a case that your TV cannot see the infrared signal from your chosen remote, is the Arc HT device covering the TV’s IR receiver, for example? or… are you using the cable box remote?.. if it is the latter, have you setup that remote to control your Sony TV over HDMI?
