If any folk on these forums express a preference, it’s their preference, so unless this is to be decided on a majority vote I suggest you go for your partner’s preference

Black and pull it forward to the front edge of the shelf.

White and mount to a bracket attached to the TV mounting point.

Less visible wiring and keeps the shelf clear for other stuff.
