Hey guys,


Im about to get a hold of an Arc as well. Can I use my two Play:5 (gen 2) as surround speakers? They are compatible with S2 so I’m pretty sure they’re gen2.

Yes, you can use your 2 Play:5s (Gen 2) as surround speakers. Arc is only compatible with the S2 app and will not work with the S1 controller.

Only products of the same model can be used together as surround speakers. However, related models like One and One SL can be used together as surround speakers.

Here is the list of Sonos products that can be used as surround speakers:

  • One (all generations) and One SL
  • Play:1
  • Play:3
  • Play:5 (Gen 2)
  • Five
  • IKEA SYMFONISK WiFi bookshelf speaker
  • IKEA SYMFONISK table lamp with WiFi speaker
  • Amp powering third party speaker
  • Connect: Amp powering third party speaker
