Hi all,
I searched the forum for this but all the relevant threads were closed, so that’s why this new thread.
With Sonos Ace it’s possible to listen to the tv through a compatible sound bar. I own the Beam (gen 1) so that shouldn’t be a problem.
My question: will it be possible to listen to music through the Beam? Is it technically so different listening to the tv through the Beam than it is listening to music? Usually I listen to my library through 2 Play3’s en 1 Beam.
My music library is on a Synology NAS
It should work the exact same way as on any speaker. Just make sure your TV isn’t on, or turn off the ‘autoplay TV’ input flag.
Oh, that’s to play music on the Beam, not directly to the Ace. Sorry I wasn’t clear.
I’m not sure it is feasible right now to play local music via the Sonos controller to the Ace.
You could use a normal ‘player’ that has access to your Synology, and use a Bluetooth connection to send it to your Ace, but you wouldn’t have access to your Sonos playlists.
There’s one more possible option to get music stored on your Synology NAS to your Ace…
If you have a Smart TV that recognizes network attached devices and can access them you may be able to play those files and audio swap with the Beam.
