Question

Sonos Ace headband wrap peeling - any repair or replacement options?

Hi everyone,

I've had my Sonos Ace (Black) since December 2024, and they've been my daily headphones from day one. I love them.

Recently the material on the headband started coming apart, and the foam underneath is now fully exposed, so I can't wear them comfortably anymore. The ear cushions are still in perfect condition. It's only the headband. I've always kept them in the case and used them mostly indoors and for travel.

I know the headband isn't user-replaceable and I'm past the 1-year warranty. I've already contacted  Sonos Support, and they're looking into whether they can help.

In the meantime, has anyone else seen this happen with their Ace? I'd love to know whether a headband repair or replacement worked out for you, or if there's another route you'd recommend.

Photos attached. Thanks!

I think any other workaround than a replacement would look bad. But if a replacement won’t work, I would try a diy solution. Some foam and a good quality tape imo cann do the job. Probably not a candidate for a design award, but just a solution.
My Ace Gen1 still is in a very good condition, but to be fair, I don’t use it every day and mostly indoors.
I can imagine some rain or sweat could have done that to your Ace.

I literally fixed this just now.  You are most of the way already since you have the headband cover off.  It looks like maybe you removed the curved metal piece the sits in the groove.  I thought the same thing, but that isn’t the trick - remove it, wrap the liner and snug it with the metal piece.  Reinstall if you did since this does not work.  The trick is to hold the headband in one hand at one headphone end.  Start to put the headband cover back on at that end - literally the first clip at the very end.  Then, squeeze the liner on both sides up into the space between the band and cover with the thumb and fingers of the holding hand.  With your other hand, push the cover clips back into the groove of the clear plastic pieces on either side.  The clips will grab the liner and wrap it around and into the clear plastic piece as they click into place.  Slowly continue the process by squeezing, clipping and advancing your hands along the band until you get to the other end.
