Sonos Ace - Buzzing / Static Noise and low volume HELP

Hi,

I hope anyone has a similar issues or noticed the same thing on their ACE (I’m hoping it’s a software issue and not hardware).

Basically after testing my Sonos Ace today I’ve noticed that in my right ear (when on noise cancelling) there’s a static or buzzing sound almost like the mics for noise cancelling are not working properly (just a theory).

I know it has nothing to do with my hearing as if I swap ears the disturbance can be heard in my left ear. So it’s defo a problem with the headphones.

has anyone noticed this on their pair? I’m hoping it’s a software issue and maybe others have also noticed it so I don’t need to return my pair.

I tried to call Support today but after I was transferred to the technical team I was left on a queue for over 50min and I gave up.

please if anyone else has this issue and it’s not my pair being faulty then let me know!

Okay updating the thread as I have some exciting news!! After receiving my replacement Ace headphone and being disappointed to find a slight static/buzzing I am happy to say that the new update released today has fixed the issue. The buzzing/static is gone and must have been related to software. Phew 😮‍💨 cuz I really do love these headphones

Jumping on board to confirm that the firmware update has resolved the buzzing issue for me.

-Had buzzing in right ear on aware and NC modes, noticeable any time with low volume. Usage was iPhone, PC (work calls), and Arc TV swap

-Seems completely gone after the update which has saved me a return!

I must say that was literally my only issue with these headphones so I’m glad it’s sorted - absolutely loving them for music, work, and TV swap is so handy.

So happy to hear it’s all resolved. I’m receiving my new pair today (so excited!) and I will write an update here as well.

Have just done a couple of flights with them since the fix and I really enjoyed them. The aware mode was better than I originally thought.

Drowned out the engine noises really well.

One thing I noticed at first was that if I looked down, the ANC stop. I tightened the band a bit and it fixed that issue, although I didn’t feel it made a break in the seal, it obviously did.

Very happy with them

Well, 3 weeks to the day since I originally got the Ace’s delivered, I got my replacement pair.  2 of the 3 issues resolved - no more interference in the right ear on aware mode, and the replacement had a new case with a zipper in better condition.  I’ll test the ANC mode pops tomorrow on the bus in to work, hopefully that got fixed by the firmware update as well.

A very poor customer service experience unfortunately, compounded by the level 2 reps not being empowered to do the replacements themselves when their returns team lost my unit.  However - I really like the product itself. I moved from AirPods Max to these, and they are light years ahead in terms of wearability.  The cushioning is softer, and the unit is lighter.  In terms of sound quality, I didn’t back to back the two of them so can’t comment.  Comparable - perhaps the Max’s were a bit brighter, with the Ace’s feeling like they are delivering a softer or flatter transition from the upper mids in to the highs.  It will be personal preference on this one, in my opinion.  Solid headphones.

Unfortunately, I still have clipping/pops in ANC mode whilst on my bus trips to and from work.  This is the second pair.  I’ve lodged it with Sonos Support.  Hopefully it will be fixed in a future firmware update.

Same here, brand new Ace, from day 1: plops and crackles 😡 Firmware up-to-date it says…

Just installed firmware 2.9.5.  Popping whilst using ANC during the loud bus trip is still there.  Might be happening at a higher threshold, but I can’t be sure.  It is focused on the left ear but bleeds in to both the more outside noise it's dealing with.  I hope future firmware updates fix this.

Same, updated to 2.9.5, still plops, clips and ‘static crackle’ at full volume and using the app EQ with treble +3 or higher 😡😫

An update so the thread doesn’t die on the negatives, my issue is improving with newer firmware versions.
