ACE TV Audio Swap with multiple soundbars

Hi,

I have 2 TV rooms with 2 soundbars. Can I set up TV Swap with more than 1 soundbar?

Will the headphones automagically swap the audio depending in which room I am in?

Thanks

Hi @KeKeSeB, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’ve checked with some colleagues and you can set up the Sonos Ace to work with multiple soundbars, but you can only play from one soundbar at a time.

Our Sonos Ace with TV Audio Swap article has the steps, which are:

To set up TV Audio Swap, Sonos Ace must already be set up in the Sonos app and connected to your iOS device.

  1. Go to the Settings menu and select your Sonos Ace in the Headphones section.
  2. Under Home Theater, select Add TV Audio Swap.
  3. Select the home theater speaker you’d like to use, then follow the instructions in the app to complete the setup process.

After you’ve set up the soundbar, you’re able to swap between any configured soundbars in the Sonos Ace’s info screen. Please note that only the Sonos Arc and Arc SL support TV Audio Swap currently, with Beam (Gen 1 & Gen 2) and Ray support coming at a later date.

I hope this information helps!

After Beam and Ray support was added yesterday, I had a chance to test with multiple soundbars and it works like a charm. I have a Ray in one room and an Arc in another. If both soundbars are playing TV audio and I hold the content key, it swaps the audio from the closest soundbar. I have no idea how it determines which soundbar to swap from, but it seems to work somehow. Does anyone know some more details on how this is achieved (out of curiosity)?
