After 5 minutes with Google Assistant controlling my devices in the house it’s already a mile ahead of Alexa who was always rather clunky. And the app was terrible. However one of my favorite things to use my bedroom Sonos One for was to ask Alexa to play Thunderstorm sounds while falling asleep. When I ask Google assistant the same thing all I get is “Alright, Playing lighting and thunderstorm sounds on Google Play Music...Sorry it looks like the subscription to your for* Google Play Music is not supported.” A standard google home device plays ambient sleep sounds without a Google Play subscription. Alexa was kind enough to do the same. But does this mean I’d have to pay for a Google Play Music subscription in order to simply have ambient sounds? I don’t think it’s too early to start having basic expectations of our smart home devices. Turn on lights, tell me the weather, play white noise seem like they should be basic freebies to me. And of all the music services, Goo
Hello all,I have a problem with my setup.I can’t say : “hey google, switch the music on the sonos FIVE in the room XXX”Google says : “it’s not possible, I don”t understand”If I say “hey google, say to everyone the dinner is ready”google answer : “there is no other speaker configure”But in the same time I can say : “hey google, play music in the room XXX” -→ it worksOther example, I say “hey google lunch music on deezer” → OKbut i cannot say : “hey google stop the music in 5min”, google answer “I can not do that because there is no media currently playing !” :oI really don’t understand what is wrong…Thanks by advanced for your help.PS : sorry for my poor english
I have a Samsung Q95T set up with SONOS Beam (via HDMI3 (ARC)) on the ONECOnnect Box and Google Assistant fully set up on the Beam and the TV. I’ve also set the TV and SONOS system up via the SmartThings app on my ‘phone.Everything works as it should, with Google Voice Assistant on the Beam functioning correctly. However, if I instruct ‘Google’ to play music, taking the Beams source away from the TV to my YouTube subscription, I can’t find a way of then telling Google to revert the audio source for the Beam back to the ‘TV’ input. If I tell it to ‘play TV’, it tries and then tells me there’s a problem as it cannot control my TV.Has anyone else encountered this same challenge with this kind of set up? Is there anyway to ‘tell’ Google to change the audio source of the SONOS Beam to ‘TV’ or is the only way to do this by accessing the SONOS app on your phone and selecting the ‘TV’ input yourself?
It seems that every time I add a new Sonos speaker (Sonos One. Move or Beam) Things get programmed in regards to Google reposing correctly to things that were were before?Example#1: If I ask Google to play (radio station) on tunein radio it responds "Sorry, it looks like that content isn't available". It was working before I added the new speaker? I use this command every morning? I can, get it to work from the Sonos app but not Google Voice anymore?Example#2 - Google voice can’t find my you tube music request. Hey Google play Elton John, “Sorry I can do that here”?Then I go through my various resets:unlink and relink “you tube music” Uninstall and reinstall “google voice” Last resort uninstall Sonos speaker and reinstall (not my favorite though!)I am able to get some things back in order but have not been example to fix Example #1 Tunein radio with Google voice. Any ideas how to fix or trouble shoot? RAY THE BATMAN
I want to use a Google hub as a voice controller for my legacy play 5s, for which I also use a cr200 controllerunfortunately, google doesn’t talk to my Amazon prime account, so that is no good as my music source.I added Spotify (free) account to Sonos and google and voice control is working, on my cr200, the Spotify button now appears, but I get a message saying my Spotify account doesn’t support the controller. (Amazon prime music works fine on my cr200) is the reason it doesn’t work due it being a free account- ie will it work with Spotify premium- or is it like Sonos radio - it won’t work whatever ?
Hello, Have some old speakers on my account still, as a result they come up in Google Assistant when linking my account. Any ideas how to remove them (other than the answer I have been able to see online which is they have to be registered with another account). Or anyone have any ideas how to remove them at least from Google Assistant as a device (they get pulled from the Integration with Sonos, which I assume if from my Sonos account online).
Hello guys, I am quite new to the Sonos world but so far I have been nothing but satisfied. However, today I experienced something that I cannot seem to fix. When I command the Google Assistant to play the latest news, Beam’s volume goes down no matter how loud it was before. Plus I cannot increase the volume either from the app of physically via Beam. The volume is stuck at low for the news! That is if I increase the volume manually the volume bar moves in the app, and the sound is very loud if I change to music, but the news in that moment do not react. I have done a Factory reset but it did not help. Plus, this problem did not occur earlier, as we were able to control the volume for news normally. Any suggestion what it may be? Could it be some Google Home or Assistant settings? Very thankful for any help! Tnx in advance Regards Dule
I am having trouble getting sonos to work with google assistant for myself and my family members and our separate Spotify accounts. We have a Sonos one and a sonos amp in our living room and a google home in each of our bedrooms. We have 4 google users each with voice match turned on. We have 4 Spotify accounts, one for each google user. Each user has all google home and sonos devices listed as matched ‘devices’ in google assistant. However, we are constantly being told by sonos that our requests for music on the sonos device cannot be completed. What is the proper way to configure multiple family members with multiple Spotify accounts and multiple google accounts on one sonos speaker/system?
I am trying you Google Assistant through my Sonos Arc and I noticed my Google Home App has 2 TVs (syched through Sonos) and one Speaker. With them all looking identical and all not originally named in anyway I could identify them it’s a bit of a ‘mess’ in my Google Home App.Especially as I also sych my TV itself through Home Assistant (LG still hasn’t released Google Assistant in The Netherlands). So I effectively have the same TV 3 times. Which can cause Google Assistant to get a wee bit confused. With naming things differently I got most issues solved. But I still cannot figure out why Sonos is sending out the same TV twice.I have “Sonos TV Control Sonos TV” and “Sonos TV Control Woonkamer” (woonkamer means living toom in Dutch). This seems to indicate both my Arc and my Sub are both sending out the TV. Which is kinda odd as my Sub isn’t connected to my TV anymore since I got an Arc. Is there someway it remembers the old connection and if so, can I clean it up?If I click ‘unlink’ on t
How can i add Sonos radio to Google app?
Hi, I’ve set up a Sonos One in a similar location, where I previously used to have a Google mini (nest). The google mini used to work well. I could play music, get weather/jokes, ask questions. It would recognise my voice etc. The Sonos One is terrible! It recognises when any of us say ‘ok google’ but in the ‘my activity’ on google assistant it just has ‘unknown voice command’. It will respond (on occasion) to basic voice commands like what is the time, or it will play a playlist from Spotify, but most times it beeps when I say hey Google, and the light blinks a few times - then it goes back to playing music or ignoring me. When I check activity it says unknown voice command. how on earth do I fix this?
Hi everyone. I have been struggling with my Sonos One (Gen2) which was delivered yesterday. I have got set up GA somewhat satisfactorily now so it will play Spotify and do some other stuff, but it doesn’t seem to understand simple things like “skip”, “next”, “pause”, “stop”. It will play tracks and change volume, but not most of the basic listed here with Spotify: https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3490?language=en_US Any idea what the issue could be? Thanks!
A few weeks ago, Google made YouTube Playlists work on Google Assistant devices. While it's great that I can now request and listen to YTM playlists on my Nest Hub and minis, it broke being able to play playlists from YouTube music on all of my Sonos devices. Sonos One:"Play Lady Gaga" -> "Playing Lady Gaga on YouTube Music" (= no problem)"Play Current Favorites" -> "I also need to know which device to use""Play Current Favorites on the Bathroom Speaker" -> "Sorry, I can only play videos on devices using Chromecast or on cast enabled devices" Nest Hub"Play Lady Gaga" -> "Playing Lady Gaga on YouTube Music" (= no problem)"Play Current Favorites" -> "ok, your youtube music playlist called Current Favorites. Here you go" (= no problem) Nest Hub with Sonos Play:1 as default speaker"Play Lady Gaga" -> "Sure, Lady Gaga from YouTube Music. Playing on Bedroom Sonos" (= no problem)"Play Current Favorites" -> "I can't do that here but you can ask me to do that on one of your
Hi all, struggling with a new Move speaker using google assistant. We’ve got a Sonos one which works perfectly, and a new move that I’m struggling with the voice control. I’ve got to really shout at it to make it do anything other than tell me the time, I’ve got a clock for that! Have I missed a setting for the microphone sensitivity? Tried both on Alexa, but can’t get either speaker to respond to voice commands to play music. It says it’s playing, but doesn’t. This seems to be more an amazon issue looking at various forums. Any advice appreciated.
I have a Sonos beam and use Google home, since we got the beam about 13 months ago I have used Broadcast on the beam to send and receive broadcasts. Until this week I swapped my router and broadcasts stop sending, I get the ‘No other speakers connected on your network’ message.I can receive broadcasts still and play music on every other speaker even when requested via the beam. Contacted Sonos who eventually said the feature is not available on the beam, despite a yard of it working! Tried my broadband provider and Google who both said it’s a Sonos issue...obviously!!! Still Sonos deny it’s their issue.…Time to look for another speaker system I think
I have programmed the ‘Goodnight Google’ command to turn my bedroom lights off, and to run some ambient background music until I fall asleep. That all sounds lovely, doesn’t it?I thought so, too. However since I bought my Sonos One to replace my Google Home, when the ambient music (chirping crickets in a field, for anyone interested) finishes an hour or two later, usually in the middle of REM sleep, the Google Assistant suddenly screams “I’m sorry, I don’t understand!”, waking me up in the middle of the night, only for me to go through the entire process again if I make the mistake of using the ‘Goodnight Google’ command. It might make sense if I had asked Google to do something, but I’m usually unconscious, and my cats don’t speak English (that I know of. I have seen Dolittle - terrible movie, don’t bother - but it’s a work of fiction after all. Isn’t it? Cat’s cant really talk to Google, can they?). While you’re pondering that, I happen to find it very annoying, so if you or anyone y
Hi everyone,I have recently upgraded to Arc from Beam. I am having an hard time (also, with my wife...) as the new model does not recognize my wife voice with google assistant. What makes me nut is the following:if we switch to Alexa, no issue (but my kid can not say “Alexa” and on Sonos is not possible to change the wake up phrase...) google assistant wakes up when my wife speaks, but then it does not go further on the google mini/home we have in other rooms there are no issues (and there were not also with the Beam) I have deselect “personal results” in google assistant, even if it should not be relevantFinally, I have in any case seen a degradation in the microphones sensitivity. A few specific titles are not recognized properly (when I speak) but were by the Beam and are by the other google device I have The system language is ItalianPS: I am “curious” to see if Arc will recognize other people beside me, but we are in lockdown now and I can not invite guests to try, for now... guys
I’ve been using Google Assistant on my Sonos One pair ever since it became available, and I’ve been hoping that sooner or later some of the problems and issues will be resolved, but I’ve just about given up. I haven’t seen Sonos fix a single problem since the initial release. Did their one contract guy working on Google Assistant quit? It’s just getting very frustrating to see the same annoying problems over and over again. My Sonos One frequently freezes for 30 seconds or more when I ask GA to do something, and half the time it fails with “there was an error/glitch”. I can see in the Google log that it got the right command, it just didn’t do it! I can then walk over to my Google Home Mini and give it the same command, and it always executes immediately with no error. Lately it’s gotten worse, with Routines almost never completing successfully when I attempt to run them from Sonos GA, leaving the Sonos speaker stuck frozen and unresponsive for a minute or more! Is this ever going to g
When I ask Google Home ‘Ok, Google Play Music’ it plays music I like (probably my supermix)When I ask Sonos Arc ‘Ok, Google Play Music’ it plays music I have never heard. Also I can't like/dislike currently playing song using voice ‘Ok, Google Like/Dislike/Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down’I’m using YouTube Music service
Moved into a new house and had enough of the budget left to buy myself a Sonos arc. Fantastic. Wanted one since they were announced. Coupled with the fact Spotify were giving out free Google home minis and myself and my partner managed to get a hold of two of them on the back of two accounts, we had the makings of a pretty cool home set-up. Using the Google home mini is a dream. Commands are understood and carried out (albiet with a little too much vocular waffle for my taste but whatever) and the range of functionality is impressive. Throw the arc into the mix and oh my lord. What a worthless peice of shite the assistant becomes. I have more luck getting my 1 year old son to follow my requests. Considering the price of Sonos products (and don't get me wrong in terms of sound quality it's worth every penny). The lack of support for Google assistant is shocking especially as you can pay extra for the Sonos one specifically for voice commands. Not having any Google products you could be
The Google Home devices have configuration within the Google Home app to set the volume level for Alarms and Timers. This is absent in the Sonos integration and the alarms we've been setting on the Beam are far too quiet, resulting in them being missed. I've no idea whether this needs to be fixed by Google or Sonos, I've already reported it to Google, and encourage anyone else experiencing this problem to also do so.
I ask the Google Assistant (GA) on my Sonos One to ‘Hey, Google… Play the news’. GA plays my news podcast playlist. When I say “Hey Google….Stop” or “Hey Google… Stop playing the news” or anything closely related, it won’t stop. Previously I was able to stop the playback by hitting the Next/Pause button, but now it only act as the ‘Next’ button, taking me to the next story. I tried to change the playback to the weather - “Hey Google...what is the weather today?” GA plays the weather, but after, starts the news playlist again. The only way I can get the news to stop is by unplugging the device and plugging it back in. Come on Sonos. You’re better than this. I consider you a ‘near luxury-class’ product which means you should always get it right. I used to have the $20 Google Home speaker in the same room….on top of my Sonos. I really don’t want to go back to those days. The only thing I can think of that may be the issue, the Google Home in the next room or on my phone may be
