Google assistant refuses to launch Spotify

Hello,

I installed Google assistant on my Beam Gen 2. When Spotify is playing music, I can ask google assistant to move to another song. But if Spotify is not playing and I ask to start it or just ‘play music”, google assistant answers he is not able to do this. Can someone help?

Thanks

Coco

Why do Sonos make you dismantle everything and rebuild it every time they make a software change that breaks your speaker?

Do they?

I’d not noticed that they do, but then I’ve been operating 20 plus years, with several moves involved, and not had a significant issue.

I really needed to make an sccount for this.

So I have the same issue as described above, cant lmay anything on spotify with voice command

What I find disturbing is that everything worked fine untill it didn't, maybe sonos had an update thst screwed this up or google home is the problem here.

I did notice in google home that everytime I would reconnect sonos I would get an extra sonos item which was not in the list.

However I solved that issue in google home also in a very hard to find spot.

But even after this amd reconnecting the iasue persists.

Will sonos and google work together on this and resolve this issue or shoyld we all throw our now useless speaker?

Same issue here for last month asking my sonos to play pause resume does nothing not even an error. Asking it to play from spotify specifically it says its going to do it then nothing. Have update. Unlinked. Relinked. Rebooted. Same crap

Come one guys your products damn expensive to have these levels of headaches.

I’m curious, what did Sonos Support say, when you called in with your issue?

I have a Sonos One, followed the process as said and am still getting a “can’t play on this device”.

I’m a software engineer and it seems that the device is not registered as a speaker but as a generic device, as the controls are not showing me the option to set where to play by default.

very bad experience, never buying Sonos again.

Try this.  I don’t use Google Home so not sure this is up to date.

That's the problem, when I go to the Device Settings, there's no "Audio" there, only the device's details, like Name, House and Environment and only 3 buttons: Add to favorite, Send Feedback and Help. There's also a way to unlink sonos. All my other sound devices are like you said, they display an "Audio" section where I can choose those things.

Sorry about the Portuguese interface … my Sonos is called "Kitchen".
