Finally I've had enough. They bricked my original play 5's and I sucked it up. They got rid of the ability to use my own music. Now the app is an unstable Trainwreck.

Sonos has completely lost my faith in their ability to operate as a music system. I used to install Sonos in bars shops and other venues and finally I'm sick to death of the cause I get complaining about the multiple issues my old customers have with their system.

I have about 35 speakers and I invest a lot of time money in it. I can handle them bricking my speakers, I went out and invested in a network storage device but this app update just screams of incompetence. I really want to love Sonos but we've reached the end of the road. I represented it and promoted their products and feel like I have left a plethora of people down that relied on my advice as an installer.

Now I am just looking for alternative that I can try out and compare and finally switch over and sell the rest of my system to the next poor fella.

What systems have you all tried and like what did you choose when you dumped your Sonos let's talk about it

I completely forgot to mention that I'm basically unable to use the app and I'm zoning the speakers manually with the controls on top of them and playing directly from Spotify or other streaming services. Completely misses the point of having the system what a disappointment

Here’s a thread on this topic

No issues with grouping Sonos rooms here🤔? If you’re having issues with your own setup, then it maybe best to reproduce the issue(s) seen and immediately submit a Sonos system diagnostic report from within the Sonos App, note it’s reference and contact/chat with Sonos Support Staff via this LINK and see what the Staff can perhaps suggest to help you to resolve the matter.

Has anyone talked to Costco- taking back the pieces? Its not a system.

Posters on Reddit claim success in Costco taking them back. If you are successful let us know.

Not looking for any more sonos support rabbit holes. just alternative systems. The app rarely loads and when it does it’s glitchy. I am sick of having expensive paper weights that need constant tinkering and resetting etc.

Maybe you want o buy it all off me if you think it’s that good?

If you use iOS do check out SonoPhone. It actually works well unlike the buggy Sonos app. But before you spend $3 on the app, check to see if your system works well with the desktop app. If it does Sonophone will be a good option or you.

also looks like you are using the desktop app… i personally use android app exclusively on mobile devices. I will add that i don't suffer all the issues all the time on every device. But it’s taking the pleasure out of using it as taking more than 5 minutes to play a playlist and configure a group of zones is ridiculous, and sometimes i just give up. It is a premium sound system with a price tag to match, so really have expected more in terms of stability and development. I have owned Sonos since day 1 and have been an avid supporter, i have just had enough of struggling to play music when I want so the system is not useful right now.

Same annnoying issues with the app constantly losing speakers. I have, 2 x Play5’s which keep disconnecting from the app, a Play1 that keeps ungrouping from its stereo pair, 2 Play3’s that disconnect and a Sonos IKEA Symphonisk speaker that keeps disconnecting from the stereo pair. I’m so frigging tired of having to walk around and go through the entire setup for each of the speakers each time it happens… I’ve also had Sonos from early on and it’s only this last year or so that it’s started to happen but it is so damn inconvenient and annoying when it does. It is more and more regular an occurrence!

I’m not using the desktop App - just iPad, iPhone and Android Tablet here. The screen-captures posted earlier were from an iPad.
