Using S1 and S2 in the same system

A note to people with mixed S1 & S2 systems. Do what I did an move over to Lyrion as control and carry on using your S1 and S2 kit. Requires running Lyrion (LMS) on your NAS or separate device pc or Raspberry Pi. The advantage is being able to run a mixed environment. I have Primare Prisma, Raspberry Pi based Picore and several Sonos devices operating under one control system. Takes a bit of tweaking but avoids getting rid of S1 kit, plus keeps you from running insecure network protocols for the S1. Just treat it as a Upnp render end point.

You can also use other UPnP control point apps to play tunes on Sonos devices.  Only problem may be gapless playback issues.

I do think Lyrion Music Server ( Squeezebox Server ) is the best server out there.  There is a bit of a learning curve though.

Or you could use a third party app that supports S1 and S2 systems simultaneously, no random extra server required.
