Today, February 5th 2025 you were told that you and upwards to 200 of your colleagues will be let go. I know first-hand how such an announcement can affect your well-being, work ethic, future plans and family.
Your acting CEO has given the reason for such a move as an effort to transform Sonos into a company that is flatter, smaller and with more focused teams. The hope is that having a simpler organization in place, cross-functional project teams will come together to improve the core experience and deliver new products. I must also assume the encompassing goal is to regain customer trust and strengthen the Sonos brand. As a loyal Sonos customer since 2015, I’m 100% in favor of seeing Sonos continue to flourish.
However, the most important reason to write this is to say…Thanks to you and your colleagues as you depart the ranks of Sonos. Your contributions to the Sonos experience; in whatever shape or form, has afforded me tremendous satisfaction with my Sonos system. I know I express the sentiments of other Community members as well.
My heartfelt wish is that this bump in your career enables you to become laser focused and steer a smooth path towards your next professional endeavor. Don’t let February 5th 2025 deter you from achieving the goals you desire for yourself and your family. Take the skills you learned and/or brought to Sonos and use them to your advantage for success.
