It was an absolute nightmare trying to tap that tiny circle and drag it across the volume bar. Taps wouldn’t register, the button was unreasonably small, and overall the volume slider has been a point of contention for users for a long time. Now that it’s updated so you can tap and drag from anywhere on the volume bar I’m so happy I had to log in here and just say THANK YOU! Amazing what a small change can do to dramatically improve the user experience.

The new volume bar is indeed an improvement. BUT you could drag anywhere on the previous volume bar too. I’d been doing that for many months since they last introduced that improved functionality.

I must have stupid thumbs then because it consistently wouldn’t register presses and sometimes even a successful contact with the itty bitty dot wouldn’t matter sliding left/right, it’d just stay in the same position. Felt busted since the app overhaul.

You could also tap left and right of the dot to turn the volume down or up.

I love the fact the plus and minus let you go up 1 single digit.

I mostly like the new volume control. I don’t like that it takes so long to return to normal after removing your finger. Dragging from anywhere on the slider on iOS was actually introduced with ver 83.00.36 back on 17 March.
