Symfonisk picture frame

Who else got sad about the news that the IKEA Symfonisk picture frame speaker was discontinued?

I always thought it was such a clever, versatile product. Having a picture frame that also works as a speaker opens up so many possibilities for any room—both for sound and for décor.

Please, Sonos… bring it back!

I don’t think it was/is Sonos who takes this decision, but a choice made by IKEA.

“By mutual agreement, no new products will be co-developed, and the existing range will stop selling in January 2026, or until the inventory runs out.”

That just PR blurb. The end of the Symfonisk range does seem to coincide with IKEA changing over to the Matter standard. This choice by IKEA could make it hard for Sonos to develop a third generation of speakers.

It was also a cost thing - IKEAs new audio stuff (which is Bluetooth) retails way cheaper than the cheapest Sonos gear. (Matter is still not suitable for audio).

At least in the US you can still buy the IKEA Sonos stuff while stock lasts.

I'm not upset I just got one on clearance for £99 😊👍
