I love my sonos system and sound quality is still great even after years.
 

BUT the APP really needs improvement: too slow and not at all user friendly

Issues with the app being slow can often be related to how stable communication between the app and the speakers is, so it may be worth giving the network a quick reboot (modem, router, access points, Sonos - in that order) to see if that helps at all.
