This new update works!! My system is now responsive to radio channel changes and volume settings. Fantastic to have it back. Happy days
Let’s hope many others have the same response!

Sadly this is not yet downloading to my Pixel 8a.
It hasn't worked for me. Switched back from S1 to the new app and all the delays are back. Simple network with a surround system with Playbase and 2 Play 1's. Possibly back to S1.
Im waiting on reviews for this update, before allowing it.
i don’t use the Sonos “radio” channels (what they were pushing when they broke themselves).
I would love to hear from others how the latest 2025 update is effecting their systems.
i am streaming apple play- because it is trying to FORCE/REQUIRE the update if using the app; just like when they broke everything.
@EU4ME - I hope it’s a widespread phenomenon. Some Sonos loyalist (and very helpful folks on here) have had few problems from the start, yet it’s obvious this new approach of forcing most Sonos functions to go through the cloud causes some fatal issues for too many loyal and new Sonos customers (so much so that the CEO and CPO had to resign). KenG. and others have admitted to some lag issues as well recently.
I’m afraid that introducing a whole additional level of complex communication across not only local wifi networks but the whole internet (and whoever Sonos leases server time from) will produce a vast array of good and bad experiences for too many Sonos users. Some will find that their set-up is in the goldielocks zone (solid ISP + router + wifi +++ not to mention often sophisticated knowledge of this tech), while others who have never have experienced a serious issue with Sonos (until last May) will continue to have spotty if not unusable performance issues.
Obviously the app is improving, but this does NOT fix the fundamental issue that Sonos decided it’s better to have almost all of our functions funneled through the cloud instead of our local networks.
Some in the fanbase here refuse to accept the notion that Sonos would ever monetize our personal listening/use data just because some former CEO said they wouldn’t or that some old US commercial use language says they shouldn’t. The leadership of this company has patently lied to the user base multiple times in the past. To take their word for what plans they have with this crazy app decision seems somewhat naive to me.
Still, I sincerely hope that the huge investment in time, labor, money, and trust I and my friends/family have made with Sonos gear will finally allow us to play our music, our way, on our current set-ups like it did before this horrific debacle (running now 8+ months). As of this update, S1 friends = happy as can be, S2 Orange, = no issues, S2 Black = lags, volume issue, and more. Sonos support, still awful unless you reach an engineer.
It finally arrived on my phone yesterday as so far I can see no significant change for the better or worse.

As most of the content is searched and streamed from cloud does it not follow that some functions to access and select that content would also be in the cloud?
The slight lag in the Sonos App loading home page when first opened, is same as Spotify, Apple Music, Netflix, etc Apps when they are loaded for first time?
I allowed the update: my findings are:
From the Sonos App:
Performance degradation due to periodically looses or turns off a speaker.
Some instances of turning on the app- the App says there is no system, requiring turning off & on the app a few times.
Minor app issue:
App graphic no longer updates with the music. Again- turn off the app & return, & the graphic may update to current music- approx 80%. If not, a second refresh usually updates the image.
Air Streaming - works like it had before the update.
over all, this is pretty much a standard poor release for Sonos. I’m grateful I can still airstream.
Over all:
I am not sure that I will allow future updates. I fear loss of non app function.
