Local library index issue.

I have finally noticed an issue with the Local Library           (Music library) Album view.  The screenshots will show the problem.  This is not due to faulty tagging.  I suffer from tagging OCD.  The album is not even a compilation album.

Expanding upon this is the Artist view.  There is a relation.

Sonos simply does not care!

It is frustrating that it’s been over a year and still no fix for this. MoPac, you may find the next time you make a change to your music library and re-scan, this album will be fine and some other may display this problem. That’s the way it’s been here since Sept 2025.

Did another index.  I didn't add any content though.  Will have to do that as well.

Yes, you need to change something. In fact, the change can be as simple as renaming a folder. No change to any tags needed.

Yes, this and other issues with indexing are well discussed and frustratingly have been present since local libraries were re-inteoduced after the May 24 debacle.

There 'appeared' to be some shift somewhere around the last releases as results changed in the desktop/3rd party apps which use the old infrastructure methods. These were more reliable but now apper to have been broken too (talking specifically about various artist issues).

As @kdowling says it is doubly annoying that the issue you detail is likely to flip to a different set of tracks/albums/artists on a re-index. In a large library (mine is ~50/55k tracks) it makes it very difficult to track/diagnose…

Sonos seem to have acknowledged there are issues and everyone is hoping for a fix - no one is holding their breath however 🤓

I am hopeful that there is a fix in the pipeline for this, maybe add the format of the file being played on the now playing screen too 😎

No clue where this will appear in the new forum, but Sonos will probably regard this as a ‘New Idea’ and need a new post in a different area of the Forum. 😔

It's strange how many posts on the topic there are and how quiet Sonos are in giving further info on this obvious bug that's been there for quite some time.

BlueSound, another system that indexes libraries, gets it right.

Sonos S1 gets it right! Using the exact same library for S1 & S2 here.
