So I just spent over $1,500 to add a new Sonos Arc Ultra to my existing Sonos system that I have built over the last 15 years, only to find out that it is incompatible with the Sonos 1 App.  I have spent 10’s of thousands of dollars over those 15 years to build a great music system throughout two houses with complete ability to manage my music with the Sonos 1 app.

Sadly, I will now stop purchasing any more new Sonos products and will be returning the Sonos Arc Ultra because it demands I use the Sonos 2 app...I am not interested in managing two separate systems.

I also have no interest in using the new features of the Sonos 2 App...I am happy just playing good quality sound over the many speakers & sound bars I already have, with complete flexibility of choosing sources and rooms in the old app.

This extremely frustrating for me and I am surprised that Sonos can’t allow for the backward compatibility of all new products for the loyal customers who purchased their products over many years!

There hasn’t been a new Sonos product release in the past 5yrs that was compatible with S1.

Basic research before making your purchase of Arc Ultra would have identified it was incompatible with S1.

The S1 app was frozen in 2020.  How is a codebase that has been frozen for 5 years supposed to be able to support something which didn’t even exist until a half decade later?
