hopefully this will help, if you are on macOS, don’t stress about the app crashing. don’t search for answers. just delete it. it will take a weight off your mind.

if you have an AirPlay compatible Sonos, it should be fine from Apple Music on laptop or phone.

if you have an older speaker that isn’t AirPlay, copy music to phone or a NAS and find it using the iOS app. the app even shows album art work! it’s almost like a fully functional minimal viable player!

don’t ever try to use the desktop app or web app, that will only get your hopes up, but it’s pointless. don’t get sucked into thinking you need to reset your router or your fridge etc. before you know it, you’ll be changing the locks on your doors in case they might be the problem….

Odd, I run the now ‘retired’ (just getting bug fixes, not getting feature updates) Mac application without issue, in two different Macs. It’s been about 10 years now, still haven’t had an issue. Can’t say I’ve needed to AirPlay 2 from my Mac, although I do that occasionally from an iOS device, and test it occasionally on my Macs, still no issues there.

I’ve not yet tried the Web app, I’m preferring to wait until Sonos says it has reached ‘parity’ with the Mobile app. At which time they’ve suggested they’ll stop supplying both the Widows and Mac ‘native’ apps.

@dotlineform

I agree with @Airgetlam as I’m a MacOS x 4 user as well. All my Mac’s are M1 thru M4 processors. I have used the soon to be retired App and the Web app @ play.sonos.com without issue.

As you seem to be new to the community spreading doom and gloom about Sonos and MacOs is not the best way to introduce yourself. If you are having issues with Sonos using MacOS might I suggest two things:

  • Provide more information about your issue(s) as we may be able to assist  Or
  • Run a diagnostic within 10 minutes of the next occurrence, make note of the reference ID number and call Sonos Tech Support

 * Do not post the reference ID number in this forum.

Same here - Mac app works perfectly as it should. And that’s off a 2017 MacBook Air.

Enough with the ‘it’s an issue for me, therefore it’s a major problem for everyone’.
