Complete your profile with at least the following information:
- Country of residence
- Sonos products currently in use
Don’t provide vague descriptions of 3rd party products.
For example:
- Bose Dock
- Epson Projector
Now let’s tie this all together.
Country of Residence
This is an international forum. Members trying to help resolve your issues may reside elsewhere.
Know that by doing so you are not providing Personal Identifiable Information (PII); nor violating GDPR. You cannot be tracked by providing such information. In fact, you’re more vulnerable on social media such as Facebook.
- I live in the US.
- A member posted wanting to know if an Epson projector could be used with Sonos. They provided the Epson model number TW 7100. Researching that number on Epson’s website brought up Epson Printers.
- Realizing I’m on Epson’s US website I decided to check the members profile which revealed they are a UK resident. I therefore switched my browser to Epson UK. After that I was able to determine the correct model ID which is EH TW7100.
- The point being that had not the member indicated their country of residence providing assistance would have taken much longer.
Sonos Products Currently in Use
- If you are having issues with a Play 5 and fail to mention in the post that it’s a Gen1 or Gen2; a quick way for a member to determine which is by looking at your profile.
- Also, as you upgrade away from products that are generational it’s a good idea to remove them from your profile if sold/gifted away or in moth ball status. In that way members get a clear picture of what’s currently in use not everything you own.
Don’t provide vague descriptions of 3rd party products.
- Bose Dock is quite possibility easy research, but not Epson Projector.
- The benefit of being more descriptive will allow members to more quickly identify the product and its functions and how it will or may not integrate with Sonos.
- Providing a model ID or even a picture is always helpful.
