Installed without issue on all speakers July 30th. Did not affect any settings as far as I can tell. Nothing for the Ace. Anyone note any visible changes?

I just updated my Mac desktop app.

Am I imagining things? Or my Music Library Playlists now functioning?

The update sent by Sub Level to -0- and reset the EQ on two of my One-SL’s that are in Stereo connected to that Sub to -0- as well. I did not have these set with Trueplay. That is the only thing I have identified so far.

I see people reporting that now their Albums in the Music Library show up as individual songs rather than as an Album - on the new app as well as the Desktop app.  That sounds like something that got dorked up with a firmware update.  So, I’m hesitant to do that update.

Are any of you seeing that as a result of this update?

Also, I don’t see any Playlists - how are you getting to them?  I see them in the Desktop App and SonoPhone, and the old App, but that’s always been the case.  Not in the new App though.

“Albums in the Music Library show up as individual songs rather than as an Album ...”

That’s been the case for some but not all of my albums.

But, as I reported above, my Imported Playlists are now miraculously functioning. For me, that’s a huge system improvement.

I’d guess the affected albums are “compilations” where the album has multiple artists for different tracks in the album rather than single artist albums.

That’s correct

That’s been acknowledged as a 16.3 firmware issue by Sonos (Corry) in this thread. Might be worth watching as the thread could be updated when a fix is released.

Hi @Eastway, you likely already know this … you can edit or delete the “Album Artist” ID3 tag to fix this issue. The excellent MP3tag is my go-to tag editor.

Updated to 16.3.1 - it gave me error 1000, saying it couldn’t find my sub to update it and to try again. I didn’t try again but instead left it for a few mins - lo and behold it sorted itself out. Checked the system and sub is on 16.3.1 like all the other speakers.

So if you see that, don’t necessarily believe that a speaker hasn’t updated. Just leave it for a while…

I  also noticed my sub gen 2 took a while to actually show the 16.3.1 label but I didn't get any error messages

This is same behaviour as pre 80.x App, I often had failed update reported in iOS App on Sub. Wait a while force close App, and about my system would show correct version.

i thinks it’s because the Sub connects to network via the soundbar, and if soundbar is rebooting it can’t report back, ie no network.

That said, I haven’t experienced it when updating system since 80.x iOS App.

I'd appreciate it if Sonos published release notes for their firmware also.

Yes, compilations are the worst, but albums where some songs have a contributing artist are affected, too. It’s horrible, and has been this way for a month or so.

I’d really love a single point to go to and look at release notes. Single page individual or Ace, Speaker/Component or Controller pages all would be good for me. Maybe also individual S1 / S2 or whatever the new app ends up being called pages.
