feature request: shuffle mode for spotify playlists in alarms

Dear Sonos dev team,

I use the alarm on my Sonos Era 100 to wake up every day to the same Spotify playlist. My Spotify playlist is in shuffle mode on Spotify, but the alarm plays the same songs in the same order every day.

Please allow Sonos to read the status of the shuffle button when it loads a Spotify playlist and shuffle accordingly, especially for alarms.

Good idea. This might take a bit of programming on Spotify’s part too, though. The status of the shuffle button might not be available to Sonos for this for example.

Have you enabled the Shuffle toggle in the Alarm’s settings? It’s at the bottom of the menu when creating or editing an alarm.

I don’t really follow the OP but shuffle in Sonos alarms always results in songs playing in the same order subsequently.  Is this expected behaviour?

I've composed an alarm playlist on Apple Music. The shuffle mode works as expected.

@Sirhans, Enable shuffle mode in the Sonos app, rather than in the Spotify app (UI is in German language).

For me the shuffle toggle results in same order when alarms set up with the Sonos iOS controller. Alarms with repeat, different alarms at different times etc, result in same order. Spotify and Apple Music as the source.

Alarms do shuffle when set up with the desktop controller, Windows, same sources.

Sonos blames the services in other threads where this is discussed. I’m not so sure as shuffle works with the desktop controller.

Reproduce the issue, submit diagnostics within 15 minutes, jot down the confirmation number, and call in to support when you get a chance.

I’ll try that. Thank you.

I think it always starts on the same song, which made me think it wasn’t shuffling. But just now I checked, and it started on the second song. Maybe it’s shuffling but not randomizing the shuffle again each time it starts? I'll set it to shuffle in every place in the Sonos app where I can see the shuffle button. I’ll wait until the alarm goes off and pay attention to what song it starts with.

@Sirhans, Once the alarm goes off, it switches to regular music playback, allowing you to see the shuffled song order in the queue.
