It’s annoying that crossfade won’t work from Spotify unless you create a queue in Sonos. I found a better work around then what is posted here in the forum.  SoundCloud is even worse.  The best option is If you AirPlay Spotify or SoundCloud then to Sonos then you can just enjoy your music without having to do weird extra clicks in the Sonos app

Does crossfade not work when playing from the Spotify app using Spotify Connect? I no longer have Spotify so cannot check.

That’s correct,  if you are playing from Spotify and chose a Sonos speaker the cross-fade is blanked out..   And if you want to use SoundCloud you have to have liked the song already which is annoying.  To skip both of those then just use AirPlay, it works great.
