When Sonos announces an update is available…does it usually mean app, speaker update..or both? I don’t see anyway of knowing in advance of doing the update.

Unless there’s a big change or fix needed, it’ll be an app update.
Based off of what I’ve seen. The X.X (15.9) have been both app and speaker firmware. The X.X.X are usually bug fixes and performance enhancements.
