I’m using a Sonos Beam (Gen 2) with two Sonos One speakers as surrounds. While the system works great for movies, it’s disappointing when listening to music through TV apps like YouTube or Deezer.

Even though these apps play stereo music, the system treats everything from the HDMI ARC port as “TV audio,” which forces the surrounds into Ambient or minimal surround mode. This results in weak, unengaging sound — the opposite of what I expect from a premium Sonos setup.

Feature request: Add a toggle in the app to "Force Music Mode" or "Stereo Mode" for TV inputs — letting users choose when they want their full system to play rich stereo audio from all speakers, regardless of the source being a TV app.

This would dramatically improve the experience for people who use their TVs to stream music videos, playlists, or DJ sets via YouTube or Deezer — a very common use case today.

Suggested implementation:

  • “Force Music Mode for TV sources” toggle per room.

  • Or allow users to assign a “Music Playback Mode” to stereo-only signals coming via HDMI.

Please consider this — it would make the Sonos system far more versatile and enjoyable.
