So the latest update is terrible. I have a Sonos beam and 2 satellites in the living room and a Sonos move 2 in my garage. The system in the living room is for movies and tv and I hardly ever use it for music. I listen to music in the garage as that’s where I work. In the new app , when I go to play music it defaults to the living room. So I have to change it to the garage. No biggie. Problem is that while listening to music in the garage, if I decide to change channels or genres it automatically defaults back to the living room instead of staying with the move 2 that was already playing music. Is there a way to change the default speakers to the move 2 and not the living room system?

Completely agree. Aweful update.  MAJOR lag.  Want to go back to the previous version. Have the same problem. Hope there’s a fix soon.

Agree! How can we change the default output, which seems to be the first of an alphabetical list- for my system it’s “basement,” where I rarely listen to sonos music. I wonder if I can reorder the outputs by renaming them to start with a number: “1kitchen”, “2basement”, etc

I have the same problem. It keeps defaulting to the bedroom, waking up my wife. Even after I unselect that Sonos speaker, it changes back when I switch music channels on SiriusXM. Maddening.

Same problem. Even after I change the output to the device I want, it sometimes does not “take”. Even when it does take and starts playing where I want, the device that shows up on the bottom of the screen is still the wrong device.

I’m stunned at the lack of QA testing that went into this release.

Same problem here

Very annoying indeed! Sonus is broke ☹️ too slow and very frustrating!!!

Sonus people if you’re checking out if your latest  update is going well, it’s not …

Pretty please can you sort it out ASAP?🙏🙏

Thank you

Same default issues as above as well as speakers intermittently not appearing on Airplay since update.

Thank god Sonos is actively monitoring this stream….not

I am having the same issue. Terrible experience. Keeps waking people in other rooms when I try to play music for myself in the middle of the night. Combined with the “improperly encoded’ messages on tracks that played perfectly previously, I am pretty much done with Sonos.

Same wrongly defaulting speaker issue with my set up.

Plus…

Imported playlists have disappeared: “No longer available”

Tapping on “Recently played” doesn’t work “Something went wrong. Try again”

App generally slow to react

If it ain’t broke...

Has anyone experienced Sonos disconnecting your mobile device from your WiFi network while using the Sonos app?

I don’t even know if that is possible but after the update I have been having intermittent WiFi disconnections/instability when using Sonos, just seems strangely coincidental

Did no one beta test this before dropping it on the public??

Same as everyone else here- huge lag time for any command and if you make any changes to any of your playlists, songs, or artists it automatically defaults back to one (completely ancillary) room and you have to start over selecting and de-selecting rooms to try and get it back running in any other rooms

What a giant step backwards for Sonos.

Same problem. Keeps defaulting to the family room and often stays on the previously listened to music. I also can’t pause or change volume. When I try to listen in the living room and I click family room, click living room, and then hit apply the music automatically defaults to the family room even if it isn’t clicked!

Same issue, mine always defaults to “basement” now which is where the Beam and our tv is, so someone upstairs just trying to play some music interrupts the movie downstairs! So annoying!!

Crazy defaulting to a room where night worker sleeps - you can’t imagine how much repeated sudden awakenings are unappreciated! Sonos is diving from much loved to source of anxiety

please sort this soon!!!!

Completely ridiculous that this is required, but it seems that you can change the prioritization by moving a room’s position in the alphabetical list.

I stopped waking people accidentally with loud blasts of music from my Beam and Play set up by changing the room’s name from Living Room to Zee Living Room.

Just in case that helps someone…

Having the same default speaker issue as everyone else and agree very annoying.

Someone mentioned above about possibly renaming the speakers. I did that and it appears to have worked. Sonos puts them in the app in alphabetical order causing it to default to an area I didn’t want. Renamed that speaker changing the order and it now appears to be working the way I want.

Annoying, but a possible “fix” until Sonos truly fixes this.

Great - thanks

I think that workaround has stopped it happening

Perhaps it needs a set default speaker option for each user in the next update?

Renaming my speakers worked for me. Whichever you want defaulted make sure that’s earlier in the alphabet. I named mine to start with an A. Seems to have worked!

This is so friggin annoying. I open the “app” and it defaults to my play 3 , while in a different room I uncheck the play3, choose my playbase and Move, hit apply and then it plays all 3!! I unchecked the play 3!!!!! Also my move plays without the bass. I have to go in uncheck it and the playbase then return to the menu check the Move first and then the playbase in order for the Move to function properly. Whoever was in charge of this should be canned and their Ritalin increased. BRING BACK THE PREVIOUS APP!!! It worked just fine.

I couldn’t agree with this more.

This is the first time I’ve found comfort in this app, being that’s everyone else seems to be having the same issues. Given this is a home entertainment system it would be my first thought for it to almost know the closest location you were to the speakers around you. So infuriating!!!

Same problem…I use my Move mostly as I go from office to back patio etc and music goes back to living room when changing music.  If I swipe down so I can go into the Move product settings to check battery level…when I go back to the music screen it’s already changed back to the living room even though it continues to play music on the Move. When I change back to the Move…it stops playing, takes 10-15 seconds, and then goes to the next song.

This is what you get when you substitute false “courage” for customer and commitment.

If Sonos wants to show real courage, upgrade your tone deaf CEO from CEO zero point nothing to CEO 2.0!!

Have you tried the possible fix of renaming your rooms?

Yes...no change

Completely agree. Have the same problem. I don’t want my speakers to be called A Kitchen B Office C Family Room.. Just fix it!

I’m having the same issues. I suggest Sonos add the ability to choose between 3 defaults: None (no speaker), the previously used speaker, or a specific default speaker. Personally, I’d prefer None, since I change rooms frequently. In the meantime, I’ll go back to using the Spotify app to choose my music. It defaults to the phone speaker and then I select the desired speaker. I do like the organization of the new Sonos app, but it’s no good if it defaults to the wrong speaker.
