Why do Sonos S2 & SonoPhone apps load a different number of Amazon tracks?

When I load an Amazon Music Unlimited playlist I created that has 498 tracks, why are a different amount of tracks loaded when using two different apps?  When I use Sonos S2, 400 of 498 tracks are loaded.  When I use SonoPhone all 498 tracks are loaded.

If I load the 498 track playlist using SonoPhone the queue on Sonos S2 shows all 498 tracks.  Weird!

Hi @MoPac et al

Thanks for your post!

We are aware of this situation whereby large Amazon Music playlists will fail to load entirely into the queue and are investigating.

We have no estimate for when this might be resolved, but I will update this thread when I hear of it.

I hope this helps.

Using Sonos S2 worked when adding two playlists to the queue.  Just have to ignore the message “Unable to add to queue”.

I’ll try that, but if Sonos can’t load all of the first playlist I’m not sure I’ll get the entire 993 tracks.  I’ll give it a shot though.

What I meant was that you could always get over 500 Amazon Music tracks in the queue by adding multiple playlists. Obviously the success rate for all tracks appearing is dependent on this existing bug.

Edit as posts crossed.

Possibly the track truncation doesn’t happen when you add to an existing queue. I haven’t tested that to see.

Sonos still jumps the gun with error messages.  Give more time for the playlist to load before stating it can’t be done.  This has been an issue for awhile.

Tried with a different pair of playlists.  Sonos S2 gave me the incorrect number of tracks.  Cleared queue and tried with SonoPhone.  Got the correct number of tracks.  I’ll stick with SonoPhone for loading the queue then use S2 for whatever else is required.

I wouldn’t call them large. Even the limit of 500 tracks is not what you would call large.

Only been at least 5mths and counting for this to be unresolved…

Took another app & firmware update today.  While the update was installing I had my fingers crossed that the Amazon Music Unlimited queue loading issue was fixed.  Guess my fingers were not crossed well enough.  When a user created playlists is loaded into the queue not all the tracks load.  Today it was a 427 track playlist that only loaded 400 tracks.  Is this issue still on the “to-do” list?

Just tried another 483 track playlist just now.  Still only loads 400 tracks.  Maybe Sonos should look into how SonoPhone does it.  SonoPhone gives me all the tracks.

Sonos could even look at their own desktop app to see how it should be done. Not only for this long outstanding bug, but other music service related issues also.

After taking yesterday’s firmware update, 75110, I was able to load a 430 track Amazon Music Unlimited playlist into the queue.  It took all 430 tracks.  I used Play Now as none of the other options showed up.  No worries there.  I’m just glad all tracks loaded.  Hopefully not dumb luck.  Further testing needed, but I’m busy listening now.

Never mind!!  We’re back to the Sonos app not loading the entire Amazon Music Unlimited user created playlist into the queue.  Dang!!

It’s not just an issue with Amazon Playlists. I’ll see similar results with NAS based Playlists. I’ll fuss with Playlists that are 10’s of thousands of tracks. There are rounding errors there too. The iPad controller might round at xx000 while the Windows desktop controller gets it right. On occasion I think there might be a timing issue as the players share data or move things around internally. In my case I shouldn’t have bumped into a fundamental storage limit based on the RAM in my iPad. If a buffer is exhausted, it’s an App issue, not the size of RAM in my iPad.

It’s not an important issue for me because I tend to use the desktop controller when fussing with playlists. Therefore I don’t spend any significant amount of time exploring the details.
