"Welcome to TuneIn" repeated

I am trying to play internet radio station TMM 1 (The Music Machine) on my Sonos system (two Symfonisk and one Play 5) using the S1 app on my iPhone, iPad and Windows laptop (all up to date)

It just plays an ad, then “Welcome to TuneIn” then another ad and just keeps repeating. It does similar with TMM 2 and CDNX, but it will play “Radio X London”

I’ve tried powering off all the Sonos units, restarting the router and powering the Sonos back up.

I’ve tried adding the streaming URL using the S1 app on my laptop (Manage > Add radio station); none of the URLs I’ve found will work at all:

https://msmn3.co/proxy/x1mp31/stream

https://tunein.com/radio/TMM-1-s159857/

http://tun.in/seYGp

The instructions in the link below do not work because the S1 TuneIn integration doesn’t allow me to log in, so does not show the favourites from the iPhone TuneIn app on the Sonos app:

Hi @andykn

Thanks for trying. We are aware of certain radio stations failing to play via TuneIn on S1 Sonos systems and are working with our music partners to find a resolution.

If you have a Sonos device that accepts AirPlay, Bluetooth or Line-in, those may be the only methods remaining to you for playing that station on your system, at least for now.

“but it will play “Radio X London” “..through TuneIn/S1

You will likely find that some stations are playable, and some are not playable.

I hope this helps.

The behaviour (short adverts and not playing the requested stream) I’m seeing in the Podcasts is the same as described above for Stations, so worth mentioning IMO

Hi @Captain Biggles

Understood!

Are you also running an S1 system?

FYI you’ve gone far too deep into the problem. If you’d bothered to try ANY of the TuneIn feeds you’d realise this is an issue that’s not related to TMM1. You get the same on the Grim Grimmer Grimmest podcast here in the UK too.

Nope, S2. Worked fine before the update FWIW

Hi @andykn

My Apologies!

I am in the UK, but for some reason, the station only shows up when I search for “TMM", rather than “The Music Machine”. I don’t know why this is.

I was able to search, find and play TMM1 on my S2 system.

Unfortunately, that means that the reason that your S1 system cannot play it is that S1 cannot handle the cryptography to do so. Which means that contacting TuneIn will do you no good, and that this particular station will only play on S2 Sonos systems.

At least, it won’t play via TuneIn or Sonos Radio. The station is listed on MyTuner as well, and it might play on your S1 system from that source. You don’t need an account to add MyTuner to your Sonos system - just add it as a service in the usual way, search for “TMM” and attempt playback.

Add a content service to Sonos

I hope this helps, and apologies again for the confusion.

Thanks, I tried through MyTuner and S1 Sonos won’t play TMM 1 or 2 through that either. or CDNX, but will do Radio X London.

Thanks, I’ll use the workaround, although it never seems to sound quite as good. If a resolution could be found that would be great as I’m hoping to get a few more years out of my gen 1 Play 5.
