The Queue

Hello All -

Surprisingly I have been referred here by the second level support team as they don’t have the answer, neither does the beta test team.

I have about 35k tracks in FLAC on my NAS drive.  Until a while ago - after the last update but before going down the beta test route - I could right click on the root directory of all the tracks and they’d be added to the queue.  It took a little time but it happened.

Now it simply tells me that the queue is full even while the “Queue is empty” is showing.  If I laboriously add each of the 30-odd subdirectories one by one they are added to the queue no problem, right up to the 35k level.

I am using a Mac Mini M4 with Sequoia 15.7.4, 24GB of memory and Sonos S2 17.2.3.

Any thoughts out there?  (Sonos support have no record of anybody else reporting this problem.)

Thanks,

Ian.

Hi Stanley 4 - Nobody thinks that it is a beta issue but thanks for the caution.

kdowling - Thanks for that.  Your first suggestion works but the second doesn’t, maybe because I don’t know what the Share Name is.  Is it the root directory in which all the music is?

In going through you process I came across a single option at one point, “Unpin from something”.  Start  maybe.  I did unpin in the hope it would help.  It worked but that may be unrelated to your advice.

Are you okay if I pass your successful method back to Sonos in the hope it might give them some clues?

Stanley 4 -

Clarification.  The Unpinning was from Favourites.  I’ve re-pinned it.

Select Music Library → Folders. It lists the local music libraries you have set up. Mine shows //nas3/Music. Long press means I press on //nas3/Music until a menu pops up. Then select the option you want. ie “Replace Queue”. The queue gets populated with all the songs in that music library by folder.

The same thing can be achieved if I select //nas3/Music and then the three dots menu (...) at the top of the folder listing. That’s the same menu you get with the long press. If you select “Replace Queue” it populates the queue in folder order.

Often all I get is Play Now.  Also sometimes I get Save to Sonos Playlist.  On rare occasions I’ll get Add To End Of Queue.  Not very consistent.  It does load the queue though.

Looking more closely the above description of menu options seems to also be affected by what Sonos room I’m using.  My Port offers more options than my Arc surround room.  Both Beam 2 speakers also offer more than the Arc.

Same here. The iOS controller and the Android controller menus differ as well. I’ve never seen “Replace Queue” show up on the iOS controller. Only “Add to End of Queue”.

Oh dear, it’s all getting a bit complicated but thanks for all the help.  I really don’t get on with the Android app - too many big icons taking up limited space.

kdowling’s suggestion works well enough so I’ll go with that and not fuss any further.

Thanks to you all.

Ian.
