Not going to happen for S1 as the old gear just doesn’t have the memory space for the newer software.

 

That’s nonsense - they don’t like S1 because it doesn’t give them permissions to listen in on your microphones. There’s plenty of memory to support a 2006 protocol (smbv2) and processor is not a problem either.

This is a problem that Sonos needs to fix, but considering they haven’t updated their software much in years (s2 is just a spyware riddled poor rebranding of s1) I think they may not have any programmers on board any more.
