Sonos Settings Not Working In iOS

I have been unable to lock Sonos settings for my Play Portable on iPhone 17 Pro Max

  • iOS 26.6
  • Sonos S2: 87.01.7
  • Version: 18.6 (build 96.0-79160)

The settings are:

  • Alexa Wake Word
  • Bluetooth Idle Auto-Discount
  • Battery Saver
  • WiFi Power Save

I have been able to lock the above settings using my Android Tablet

  • Android:16
  • Sonos S2: 87.01.8
  • Version: 96.0-7960

Ironically when doing so on my Android Tablet they appear as set on my iPhone. Incidentally, the Alexa Wake Word works as well.

There is definitely an issue with Sonos running in iOS at least in my region. Another member in the UK indicated that their settings were working in iOS; although I don’t know which version.

I have submitted Sonos diagnostics for iOS and Android

Update:

I confirmed with Sonos Level 3 Support that toggling Airplane mode on/off should not be necessary for settings that are stored on the speakers to re-appear if they go missing in the Sonos iOS app. In fact they shouldn’t go missing at all.

Per Level 3 they discovered a similar issue with the Guest Network being activated but have resolved it. This is something new that they are investigating.

The good news is that settings gone missing in the Sonos iOS app DO NOT inhibit the functionality of Sonos in any manner. In short the settings are still there but just require a nudge to make them reappear in the app (ie toggle on/ off Airplane mode). Just a much maligned nuisance at this point 😂

Hi @AjTrek1

Settings not saving and settings going missing from the app are two very different problems.

If a setting is entirely missing from the app, it is likely due to communication issues with the Optimizely service. There may be other causes that I am not aware of, however.

I hope this helps.

Hi @Corry P

It’s setting not saving. The buttons are still visible. 😊

Hey @AjTrek1, did this ever get solved? Or does the problem no longer exist with the latest update?

Nope 👎. I’ll just live with toggling AirPlane mode. Thanks for the tip 👍

Not that I use the Desktop app. However, Sonos needs to fix it since they have decided to make it available on Apple Silicon. Having to mess with terminal code in order for it to launch is not good; if you’re following the thread below:

Maybe only 2% of the over 1MM households with Sonos know how to change a code line 😂

Although strangely I have Apple Silicon in four iterations.

  • M1
  • M2
  • M3
  • M4

The desktop will launch on M1 and M4 (that’s a huge gap between Chipsets) but not at all on M2 and M3. Makes no sense. 🤔

Thanks. I was just wondering if they ever figured out what was happening. Oh well.

The macOS desktop controller should be a quick fix. They just need to re-sign it and put it back out.

Update:

The iOS app appears to be resetting itself when I return home to capture all settings (via WiFi) as it should without having to turn Airplane mode on/off. We’ll see if things remain set after the next app update. 🤞
