Sonos Controller - Duplicate Album Titles

Just an update to a previously reported issue Duplicate album names queued together | Sonos Community.  I have this album on my music library (apologies for some of the titles, but that’s the way it is):

File list for album tracks

The album is listed three times in the controller:

Selecting any one of the duplicate titles shows only one track:

These results are the same on the Windows, Android, and web controllers.  I reindexed before collecting this info. I should add that queueing any one of the duplicate titles only adds one track to the queue.

I emailed this info to Sonos support.

I realize I have a very large music library. And I half expected to run into problems eventually. But my S1 system doesn’t have a problem and it’s using the exact same library. Adding all songs to an empty queue in S1 says 50,502 songs. In S2 it says 50,470. Don’t know why the difference.

I have a new one, which also seems to point to memory corruption, or possibly a communication with NAS problem. (Has that been ruled out?)

I just re-scanned the library and ended up with (in addition to triple albums) an artist listed 27 times in a row. Each having the same 39 (out of 47) albums by that artist. When that happened, I removed the library altogether. Scanned, so there was nothing. Then added the library back and re-scanned. The result was the same triple albums and also the same artist repeated 27 times. Scanning twice yielded the same results.

I added another new album, re-scanned and now it’s back to just the triple album problem.

I’ve tried with both macOS and the iOS App, that would mean that the “leak” would be present on both Apps, which might be weird?

I think the problem is in the firmware. The library is scanned and built on a sonos device and then sent to all the rest of the devices. The apps don’t build the library.

 @CronoCX:

I’m confused by the three “R3X’s Playlist #1…#2…#3”.  That would be 3 different albums.

It was suggested that my non-use of the “Various Artists” tag might be the issue. And I was showing that even when I have albums that are tagged as such, the problem is still a problem. It’s not my tags.

Look again, It’s #1 and #2, and #2, not #3. There is NOT a third album for this series.

macOS Controller View
Playlist Album #1
Playlist Album #2 (the second one on the above list)
Duplicate Playlist Album #2 (the third one on the above list)

Missed the detail where the two albums are both #2.  Your zoomed in screenshot clarifies that.  My eyes ain’t what they used to be.

Yep, I have a large.library too and same symptoms here, specifically though, I am still consistently not seeing ANY of my 'Various Artists' Album Artist tagged compilation albums in artist search results. PC app/phonos are good though…

Getting very fed up with this now. Nearly 2 years they have had to make the new app work as well as the old one. As far as this functionality is concerned it is still a fail!

Search does seem to be broken.  When I search for Grateful Dead in “Music Library” I get only some of the albums ( 1st screenshot ).  If, within that initial search screen, I touch Artists / Grateful Dead it shows all the albums ( 2nd screenshot ).  No compilations with Grateful Dead as one of the Artists are shown on either screen.  Only the albums where Grateful Dead is both the Artist & Album Artist in the tags.
