sonos alarms still not working

Amazed to see that I was actually able to create an alarm today using iOS app ( after several days of attempting to do it and troubleshooting with zero success,)  However, is defaulting to the annoying chime sound instead of playing music playlist.

Can we get an update from Sonos on what is happening? I am spending way too much time on this and trying to troubleshoot it on my end when it’s clearly something wrong on the back end

I think I might’ve solved my problem.  (No, thanks to technical support )

I was hitting the limit of my alarms with 32 of them.

It sounds like you may have found the solution to your particular issue. In case it is helpful to others I came across this solution when I started getting the chime alarm randomly instead of my playlists:

Found out that some playlists played fine with an alarm and others no longer did - generally a brand new alarm with a brand new playlist worked, but older playlists came up with the lost connection error. In short the way that Sonos caches information about the Spotify playlist somehow got corrupted and/or lost. So to fix the issue I just had to follow the three step process for each failing playlist:

  1. Remove the Spotify playlist as a Sonos Favorite.
  2. Re-add the Spotify playlist as a Sonos Favorite.
  3. In the Alarm section, unselect and re-select the Sonos Favorite (for that Spotify playlist) for that particular alarm.

Why the integration gets corrupted is unclear to me, but you can tell if it is by doing the following:

  1. Select any Spotify playlist that is listed under Sonos Favorites (i.e. you added it at some time in the past).
  2. If the option to “Remove from Sonos Favorites” is not there or the only option is to “Save to Sonos Favorites” despite it already existing in the Sonos Favorites list it means somehow something is corrupt. Just follow the steps above to clean things up.

Hope this can help someone….
