Question

SiriusXM - all stations dropping out and skipping.

Ok, issue started recently, all other streaming services work perfect. Have been talking with Sonos Help with no resolve yet. I know others have experienced this, any resolve?

Wifi connection is solid, no interference.

Modem reset, all speakers unplugged/plugged back in, several speakers are within 3 ft of router. Using erro with 4 nodes, which works perfectly in house with no issues other then SiriusXM.

Deleted app, reinstalled. Signed out of SiriusXM, deleted app, reinstalled signed in and linked with Sonos app. No one else has my Sirius account and it’s only used on Sonos.

Issue happens with a single speaker or in a group. If i airplay to a speaker from the Sirius app it works fine. (i do not want to airplay from iphone as solution)

Sonos has checked my modem settings, made a few changes but issue still persists.

I primary use SiriusXM as my main source of listing, using many stations all day long. I hope there is a resolve because it’s not fun to listen with constant cutouts and skipping. Whew - Thanks in advance!

If all other ‘sources’ are working fine, the issue isn’t with Sonos, but SiriusXM. One question for you. Were the Sonos devices powered off when you rebooted the router? Hard to tell one way or the other from your post.

Just as a note, Sonos uses a different server / port than the SiriusXM’s other apps, so it’s feasible that it isn’t happening on other devices, but just your Sonos.

Unfortunately, I’m not a subscriber, so I can’t test this to confirm one way or the other.

Yes, sonos devices were powered off. We’ve gone through all the basic list of items to do with all hardware. It’s just with Sonos and using SiriusXM. Must have been some update or change on one of the platforms as it just started a few weeks ago.. before that i could stream a siriusxm station all day with no issues.

The only other thing I can think of is the density of the stream being presented is causing issues for the WiFi connection. The only test I can suggest to test that is a wired (test) connection of the speaker to the router. If it’s successful, then a review of the wifi interference FAQ might be beneficial.

But if that isn’t successful, I’m at a loss, and you’re likely in better hands talking to Support, who has access to data that you and I don’t.

Yup, I have tested a single speaker plugged (wired) to modem via ethernet cable and played a few siriusxm stations to it - it still seems to react the same way.

Smart thinking. But it suggests the problem is ‘upstream’ from the Sonos, so either your router is having trouble maintaining a connection to the SiriusXM port, or there’s something else going on that’s causing the issue. Sonos uses the same ‘plater’ software/firmware for all streams, so the evidence that your other sources are working certainly suggest no issue with either the player, or a standard density connection between your Sonos devices and your router….and given you’ve already wired one device, it pretty much eliminates any potential ‘density’ issues with the stream, at least locally.

A couple further questions, although responding to me might be a complete waste of your time, since I’m no longer suggesting fixes, just random questions: are your Sonos devices S1 or S2? Are they up to date with yesterday’s latest software and firmware updates? Have you communicated with SiriusXM to check that the issue isn’t on their side, since it is only their streams that are showing this stuttering behavior?

The link below shows SiriusXM operational with Sonos.

Are you by chance sending multiple streams to different Sonos speakers at the same time? By multiple streams I mean different stations simultaneously. If so that could be a SiriusXM account issue.

Don't use it but can't you send the same named stream to individual Sonos giving you multiple, not necessarily synchronized,  streams instead of  one stream Grouped?

Huh. I hadn’t considered the possibility of multiple streams to multiple rooms as an option. I’m biased towards a single stream coming in to my router, and then grouping rooms in Sonos software, so the ‘stress’ is inside my network, and not multiple incoming streams.

It’ll be interesting to see the answer. I should stop making assumptions;)
