Recent 15.1 update - Sonos Boost 'Updating' (looks like an app glitch)

Hi

Did the update last night and ever since, my Boost sporadically shows as ‘updating’ on the app, with a blue dot next to it. It does sometimes show as normal but then reverts to this ‘updating’ status. It isn’t updating though and everything seems to be working fine.

So looks like just a glitch and I have noticed folks on Reddit also commented the same.

Anyone else got this little issue?

Hi Everyone!

The current issue with Boosts reporting that they are still updating long after they have finished doing so appears to be due to the Boost failing to report its current status back to the Sonos App.

To be clear, the Boosts have successfully updated, but have failed to report their status back to the controller and therefore the in app “updating” message is erroneous and can be ignored.

If you log out of the app, the Boost should no longer erroneously show as updating in app. You can control playback of your Sonos system without logging into the app, so if the message is bothering you you can sign out of the app, but note that while logged-out, you will be unable to configure the system. If any speakers/players show as updating, we recommend rebooting these devices.

If you require any further assistance, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our technical support team.

We would like to sincerely thank you all here on this thread for your assistance in our investigations.

If you’ve just come across this thread, we no longer need further diagnostics or reports. Thank you

We will of course aim to resolve this in a future update.

When I go Settings/System Updates/Check for Updates I get an error code 1101.  When I try the update again, I get the same error.

Error 1011 when updating Sonos

Error 1011 occurs when the update process is canceled using the Sonos app.

Depending on the number of Sonos products in your home, it may take several minutes for the update process to complete. If you see this error, try the update again and allow the update to complete. Do not cancel the update or exit the Sonos app during this time.

Same here. BOOST “Updating” status on/off. Although I’m struggling with Spotify drop-outs and no-plays (hi-bandwidth issue me thinks) I’m getting some throughput. Strange cus the BOOST is my connected SONOSNet device. So is SONOS deferring to my wi-fi whilst SONOSNet is not working...or is the BOOST still performing as a gateway even when it’s updating?

SONOS...rocket science...spot the difference :-(

Hi @John76

I think the issue is affecting your ability to check for updates again. It does seem that all devices are getting and installing the update - that’s not where the issue lies. You should be able to verify this by checking software versions in Settings » System » About my System.

Hi @sparkyatoz

The Boosts (and the rest of the systems) seem to be behaving normally, at least in the majority of cases. The issue reported seems to only be affecting the Sonos app and not any Sonos devices.

If, however, your ability to play is affected by this issue, I encourage you to get in touch with our technical support team for assistance.

I would also encourage you not to use your real name in online public spaces. If you can think of an alternative, please PM me and I’ll change it for you.

My Sonos Amp says 15.1, the Boost and Play3 says updating.

Ah - thanks for reporting that. In that case, you should be able to verify the software versions on a device that was not used to initiate the update.

It really doesn’t look like the issue is with the update going through successfully, so there shouldn’t be a need to check for updates again.

My Play 3 was fixed by unplugging it from AC for ten seconds and plugging it back it.  Problem resolved in a couple minutes.  Will try it with the Boost when I get a chance.

I had speakers behaving badly and that did sort mine too. Doing this did not sort the boost though and in fact, made things worse lol. Ended up with other speakers saying they were not connected and had to re-boot them individually.

So now I’m leaving the Boost to say it’s updating, or I’m logging out of my account

Can you have too many Sonos speakers? 🤔 😆

Unplugged the Boost, waited ten seconds, plugged it back in.  Several minutes later problem resolved.  All my Sonos is now operating correctly and updated to 15.1.

You’re lucky for now lol. Mine sometimes seems ok, but then goes back to ‘updating’ with it’s little blue dot 😀
