Pocket Casts - 2026 Sync Issues

Hey All,

I know was back in the early S2 days the Pocket Casts sync functionality broke - I think it was a joint issue at the time and similar issues occurred on AndroidAutomotive OS and it was later fixed by the Pocket Casts team.

I believe the issue with syncing on Sonos may be an issue on the Sonos side but not certain - podcasts and episodes will sync BUT when you click to restart and dive back in the Sonos player will always start it at the beginning.

Is there a chance to open this issue back up now that the Sonos app and new Sonos27 system is in a brilliant place and life is good again?!

If you think it is a Sonos software issue, and not PocketCasts (who is responsible for their own integration in the Sonos software), you should probably submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of reproducing the issue, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Do not factory reset any units. Also, don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here. That’s the best way to provide hard data for Support to pass on bugs to developers at Sonos. Unfortunately, most code teams I’ve worked with have understandable challenges with tracking bugs based on anecdotal evidence, and often can’t (either Engineering or QA) reproduce the issue.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Super helpful. Here is a response I got back from the co-listed issue with Pocket Casts - https://forums.pocketcasts.com/forums/topic/issues-syncing-between-pocketcasts-app-sonos-app/#post-13791

Chances are pretty slim that Sonos Customer Support is aware of any substantive discussions between Sonos and PocketCasts, but as I say, providing hard data from your experience certainly won’t hurt. The CS folks can pass it on, and the programmers will use it, if it helps. The biggest issue you and I need to face is where this is on the list of things that need to be worked on. I have no idea on that.
