Controllers & Music Services

After having some issues with my music library playing playlists with more than 100 songs, I decided to delete it and add it back (before I discovered the playlist limit is a known issue).  It had been so long since I added the library, I had issues adding it back.I have discovered a couple issues.  First, I can only add the Public folder from the NAS.  I cannot just add the Public/Shared Music Folder.  Are subfolders supported? The other issue is the library is creating multiple of the same playlists.  I only have .m3u playlist files.  I suspect it is reading the playlists in the iTunes library.  I have backup copies of the library in other folders which would explain why there are several versions of the same playlist.I am curious if others have encountered these issues and if there are ways to correct.

Bonjour, J ai besoins de changer de identifiant de origine par une autre adresse mail. Peut t on m aider  svp

In a prior, now locked. post I mentioned how I had to break up my m3u playlists to be 1000 tracks or smaller to work.  Annoying but I wrote a script to automate it so it wasn’t too bad.  After the 80.19.05 it seems that even 1000 track m3us are too big.  They will load and when I hit play, it just spins forever.  Now I need to figure out what the new, largest m3u playlist size is. One step forward, two steps back Sonos.I really fear bankruptcy for this company now. It’s almost a year since the ‘upgrade’ and the app is still only about 50% as useful as it was before.MikeS Edit:So my experiments show that the max size m3u playlist is between 100 and 250 tracks.  Sigh. Pre May 2024 I was able to play Sonos playlists of > 1000 tracks with almost zero problems. Post may 2024 I eventually lost all access to my Sonos playlists so I made m3u playlists instead. Discovered that m3u playlists > 1000 tracks would not work. Post 80.17.09 “update” now m3u playlists > ~200 tracks do not work

Hi, I didn't find this problem covered anywhere else...I stream through Apple. When I start playing an Apple playlist arranged by Artist via the Sonos app, the app plays the first track from the playlist as it should, but then the following track flips to one from another artist. (So, I select artist X but then the second track flips for some reason to artist Y). I don't have this problem when I stream directly from the Apple app. Any ideas? Thx.

What is going on with Sonos? Has it been taken over by a bunch of grifters. The S1 app was useless and now after making its customers suffer through the S1  They have come up with the S2. Which won't even let me sign in on Android,  but will ask me for money, so that I might be able at some time in the future to actually use the speakers I purchased ... this is  a class action in the waiting .. Sonos for some reason can make speakers, but not a control system

Can a group I’ve created play by default? I have created a group called “Downstairs” pairing my living room and kitchen speakers.I’ve got a Beam and two One SL speakers in my living room and an IKEA SYMFONISK Bookshelf in my kitchen. When I watch TV, I’d like my living room and kitchen setup to play by default without me having to add them manually every time. This is very cumbersome

Well it's been over 5 months since I was, last posting here about problems with the new app. That's if the count on that old and now closed post is still updating as time moves on. That was when @Ken_Griffiths kindly offered to assist me and suggested a whole list of re-configuration to try with the assumption the issues MAY be something to do with my network. As I said, very kind of Ken but a list I looked at with a sense of dread at the time it would take me, on my own, to make those changes, let alone understand the technicalities of some of what was suggested.Well, the good news is that the app is much more responsive now and functions more as was presumably intended before the premature launch. The unsurprising thing, to me, is what this considerable improvement in app responsiveness required me to do. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.Which tells me that my assertion that the issues I was experiencing were nothing to do with my network/ Sonos configuration was CORRECT.I have changed nothing on

When switching between the cover photo and the playlist, every time I switch between them, I have to go seeking the song in the list, which is a pain in the butt….why don’t they fix this…..its the one thing they have left out that I loved…..I hate tweaking a playlist in a party or with company and having to scroll through trying to find the song I’m looking for, It always defaults back to the beginningI see no workaround….any one else?

I am so angry that you are forcing your customers to update the app on app load… WTF man!!!! (Even when I have selected the no automatic updates on the app) I am perfectly happy with how it is running before and I don’t trust your updates. I DO WANT ANY MORE OF YOUR F@@KEN UPDATES!!! Leave me be! With you latest update (which sounds exactly the same) I now have my sound cutting out after I pause my tv… after 3 mins of re-setting the volume it comes back. It happened after the last update you did - hence why I selected no automatic updates on the app. So now I have to go back and re-set every 14 of my speakers so it reads the app again. Just wow!!

Hello, I have a play 5 gen 1 and had interruptions during music through Spotify. When I switched to Tidal the problem was solved.

There is still one big issue for me regarding to volume control of grouped rooms. In the past the most comfortable way to set all grouped rooms to the same volume level was setting the main slider to zero. Then you immediately were able to raise volume for all grouped rooms at the same level. Now I have to wait for about 8 seconds!!! after setting to zero before I can raise volume in sync. Otherwise the grouped rooms won’t set to zero.I really hope Sonos will find a way to get this sorted. A maximum of 2-3 seconds to wait would be welcome for me, or an optional button in group control would be fine to activate synced volume for all grouped rooms (maybe at level of the most „silent“ room of the group).

If you’re getting a “password incorrect” error when you’re trying to connect your SONOS product to your WIFI, below is what is likely wrong (*Spoiler alert, it is likely NOT that you entered the wrong password, accidentally copied and pasted a space into your password, or used a “tricky” special character). The culprit is most likely that your SONOS component (or app if you are a S1 user) is a model that cannot connect to your router’s current setting...BUT...you can probably do a quick setting change to your router to fix the issue. For example, my old Connect Amp running S1 needs my router to be set to 2.4 ghz and 802.11g. My new router broadcasts in both 2.4 and 5 ghz (so no issue there), but it defaults to 802.11n only. I had to access the router’s settings and switch it from 802.11n only to 802.11 n+b+g to finally get passed the dreaded “password incorrect” error. If you’re curious what WIFI mode your SONOS component is compatible with, see the following link:https://support.sonos

Most posts on the forum are to do with issues and complaints.  I thought I’d write a positive post (for once).  Whilst the app is still not perfect and there’s still missing functionality (often adding a song to the queue or play next results in an error even though it works!), I’m finding it much more stable. For my particular case, even before the new app caused so many issues, I had connectivity issues resulting in delays between stopping/starting music and not finding speakers temporarily.  I’ve noticed over the last few months that these issues have reduced massively.  Speakers are no longer getting “lost”.  Pressing play/pause is generally reactive, as is the volume control.  It feels now I have a system that is usable and I don’t have to play music via spotify connect each time (it means I can now play music from my library!)I’m hoping this stability continues - having had sonos speakers for over a dozen years where they “just worked”, I’d be glad to get back to that time.

Just noticed another bug in the playlist function , iPad version 80.21.6  OS version 85.0-64200.if you create a new playlist it will not appear in the favourites / playlist view (hence it’s unusable) until you close the app and restart it.

My app is FINALLY working correctly & now it's forcing me to update. I can no longer avoid it. It goes straight to ‘Sonos system needs a software update’ I used to be able to close it & reopen & I could still use the app as I normally did.  Every time I update it gets worse & it’s been fine now for 2 mos. Anyone know any tricks to avoid the update & still have a useable app? HELP!!!

Hi there, I wish to report a reproducible bug that has been affecting many other users of Sonos and Plex for at least half a year: Steps to ReproduceLaunch the Sonos App (iOS, v80.21.6) Search for a song within the Plex service.Expected ResultsSongs are visible and can be played.Observed ResultsSongs are greyed out and cannot be played.  Other types of Plex results (Artists, Albums, etc) are visible and selectable with no issues.  See screenshots.Important NotesSearch works as expected using the web controller at play.sonos.com - see screenshot Logically, therefore, this is an issue with Sonos and not with Plex. Multiple impacted users: previous community threads here, here and here have reported this, and been closed, but with 6 months since the report, there is nowhere obvious to indicate this is being actively worked on. I strongly suggest disregarding any potential network issues as a root cause, given the fact that this works as expected using the web controller or (according to u

Why does Sonos SUCK!!!! speakers sound amazing!  However, they don’t connect to anything….  When they do they drop 30-seconds into song!   I would NEVER recommend people buy these very expensive pieces of JUNK!!!   So disappointed!!!   Horrible!!!!

I reverted to Android 16.1 after the May 2024 update disaster and have been quite content to stay there until recently when I purchased a Sonos Roam 2, when it recently went on sale.   However ttempting to add it to my system appeared to require a system upgrade (i’m assuming this means firmware *and* app)!I have 2 S1’s, a S3, a S5, a Port and a Beam.  I also have a Sonos Roam (version 1) which bricked due to battery issues. (I bought a replacement battery and may attempt to replace myself)  I also have a turntable, a CD player and a vintage Kenwood Ka-8300 amp hooked to some vintage FMI speakers.  I use Sono’s music library feature (stored on a NAS) alot, and also stream Spotify and mostly local radio stations. So here are my questions:What is the latest state of the app?   I see that the latest update was about 2 weeks ago (5/6/2025)  and it mentioned fixes to Music Library folders - which I use as my primary Music Library interface If I do update and don’t like the results, can I sti

Any info on this. Nothing in the release notes area. Can’t see any changes or new (aka returning old) features.

Once the Sonos app for Mac updates, I lose my Music Library. I then have to go through some weird way to get it connected again. This is the best way to get it reconnected that I have found: Once I get it connected and able to hear songs from my Apple Music library, it only plays the songs that I have previously added to a queue or playlist. If I look for another song in my Music Library to add to a playlist (or queue), it tells me there are “No selections available.” I’ve tried updating my music library (I do realize it takes a while), but it doesn’t seem to help. Any suggestions?

I would like to be able to switch between my favorite sources in a simpler way by having a “PLAY” option for each Sonos Favorite on the home screen rather than having to select the station then pick play. If you want to switch between stations currently it’s a couple unnecessary steps to go back to home, pick another station, then start playing that station. If you could pick “PLAY” somehow (like the added red play buttons below) for each station directly from this screen, you could much more easily switch stations if you don’t like a song or want to switch for another reason while simply staying on the same screen.

Can’t tell you how disappointed I am with Sonos allowing  1st and 2nd gen products us on their apps - example I have a gen1 connect amp that ran my (bose500) outdoor speakers for many years. My daughter 18th birthday came along (hadn’t used them for 6 months)went to check all working, only to find the amp is not “compatible” with S1 app.myself anD my son (great tech knowledge) tried for hours to get to work, kept telling us to upgrade Sonos App only to find it timed out (we think because it couldn’t find compatible products, but that’s the point we could confirm ANYTHING.We then had to scramble for other music options.now I’m a fan of Bose and UE PRODICTS.so much easier and seamless to use.Sonos have the lost the plot. I wonder if this “non-comparability” issue is an attempt by Sonos to get me to upgrade, which I may well have done if this didn’t happen.there is literally nothing SONOS can do to getme spend another $ with them.see ya

Why still no multi genre tag support?

It’s mind blowing the poor quality of the service you provide. I’m so tired of it.  How is it that every time I try to play music on my Roam I can’t! when I play music on my bean and other speakers through wifi and want to add my roam to the mix it doesn’t work. Whether through Spotify or Sonos app. I have to basically shut down everything and reset the Roam for it to play. What kind of tech is this? After so many complaints from customers and still buggy app.  You guys were supposed to add the controls from the lock screen. Nope still nothing. Even in the control center it doesn’t show up. (IOS) the app is useless. I 99% avoid it at all cost. Unless I have to connect a Roam. and yes I have renamed my Sonos profile F***sonos  because I’m so pissed about the services   Moderator Note: Modified in accordance with the Community Code of Conduct.

Can you guys seriously listen to the consumer?! I see several feature request for a schedule, timer, or auto shut off for Night Sound and Speech Enhancement?! Since having a kid it’s constantly left on for days sometimes weeks till I wonder why my system sounds off then remember to check. The worst of it for Sonos is that I’ve tried to show off my system a couple times to family/friends while wondering why it didn’t have the kick or immersive sound only to realize after the fact that those settings were left on. I see several community and Reddit posts requesting this feature spanning several years. It longer feels like a nice to have feature and more of a nuisance at this point.
