Sonos App not working in MacOS Golden Gate Beta

Since installing the MacOS Golden Gate Beta, the Sonos app will not find the system.

Firewall is off, so the only help in the Sonos app about that is of no effect.

I know the app is vintage anyway, but has anyone worked out how to get out working?

I know everyone will say use the web app, but it’s crap. I want the app and its native experience with notifications etc.

This same issue exists for people that stayed on Tahoe on the new 26.7 release.  26.6.2 worked fine but 26.7 broke the Sonos app unless you launch it from the terminal.

I didn’t find that to be the case here. Sonos controller (and Sonos S1 controller) still work here on 26.7.

Sonos App launches natively. No Terminal required.

Later you can launch the app from terminal like this and close the terminal:

nohup "/Applications/Sonos.app/Contents/MacOS/Sonos" >/dev/null 2>&1 & disown

Just downloaded Golden Gate onto my Macbook Air M1 and the last line

nohup "/Applications/Sonos.app/Contents/MacOS/Sonos" >/dev/null 2>&1 & disown

fixed my problem. If I do not use this method I have the error about firewall (have turned off, deleted the app, redownloaded the mac app, and still does not work without this line of code in the terminal app).

I don’t know why you are having to use a terminal code 🤔

I have my firewall on, location services and privacy/ security all set to allow Sonos to load.

Two things:

  • Did you run the mini update for Tahoe 26.6.2 before upgrading to Golden Gate?
  • After the upgrade was complete did you restart your device (even though a restart was done during the upgrade) to lock everything in?

Maybe removing the terminal code and re-installing Golden Gate may resolve the issue. Also, turn on the firewall as normal and make sure Sonos is approved. You can always re-add the terminal code if the issue isn’t resolved.

Still having the same issue after downloading OS 27 Golden Gate. It just will not find the system. Works absolutely fine on IOS27. The only way I can use it is through https://play.sonos.com/en-us/web-app

@Mike_73 have you tried launching Sonos using the command line shown above from the terminal? Not ideal, but until this gets fixed, if you want to use the desktop controller, it looks like that’s how to do it.

I’ll give that a go. Thanks for the advice

Still happing with the official MacOS 27 release.  I cannot get the MacOS Sonos App( v90.0-79210) to connect.  It started failing right after the upgrade from MacOS 26.

  • I tried resetting the controller
  • Upgrading the Sonos App
  • Removing - Reinstalling (Togged Local Access in the Priv & Sec settings)
  • Removing.- Restarting - Reinstalling ( Was actually prompted to enable local access here)

All resulted in the same “Not Connected” dialog.

Try “Phonos Ultimate” from the App Store.

Just did.  Works like a champ.
