I cannot seem to find a way to add songs to playlist in the new app. when I click on the ••• next to a song while another is playing, the only option now appears to be Replace Queue, and no ability to insert the song. what am I missing?

Right now, many users are reporting that the “Add to Playlist” and “Add to Queue” options are missing or limited in the updated app. Sonos has acknowledged that they're working on restoring some of these features in future updates.

For now, here’s what you can try:

  • Use the desktop app or the older version (if still available) – These often still have full playlist management.

  • Try using voice or Apple/Spotify integration if you’ve linked services that support queueing songs externally.

Yes, I agree. I always use the Sonos Desktop app, which I usually refer to as the controller app. It’s the only way I can add songs to playlists and update the changes by re-saving them to the same queue name. And, as I have mentioned in other threads, it also is the only app that currently remembers your place in the playlist, which is why I have started using the SonoPad app. For some reason, it knows where you left off in each playlist. Similar to the Desktop app.

I noticed there was an IOS update this morning. Just performed it and don’t see any added features. No Save to playlist button and still doesn’t remember your place in the playlist and to takes you back to the top. Like I stated many times in the past, I don’t even think Sonos is aware of this problem and it will never get corrected. The older app had no problem with this. Either does the SonoPad app. I just don’t get it.

Hi @John Guarr

The iOS update was to address one specific iOS-only issue - screen flickering when opening the 3-dot menu for content. I guess it was considered impactful enough to get it’s own, unplanned service pack fix.

We are of course aware that there is no Save Queue to Playlist option, and that opening the queue does not take you to the currently playing track - I don’t know when exactly they will return, but I think there are other issues that have so far been given a higher priority, as neither prevents users from actually playing music on their speakers, while other extant issues do.

There was no intention behind the missing features - we did not copy over a single line of code from the old app, so some features or functionality have simply not made it into the new code, yet. Progress is being made, however, so watch this space.

Corry, thank you for your explanation. I’m happy to know that Sonos is aware of these two issues ( and probably more).  I’ll just sit tight and hopefully, it will get implemented soon

@Corry P I am sorry but the biggest issue with app is not being able to add to or make a new playlist. There is no higher issue that should be given a higher priority than this. Almost all of my friends have already left sonos solely because of this and I am getting to my widths end as well. Please prioritize and fix that feature now.

Everyone can do that now. Not sure why you cannot. When did you last update your app and run a system update?

I just updated my app and that feature is not there. Maybe I am missing something so please what are the steps to add new songs or create a new playlist?

Thank you for providing that link, but is there an English version. I also had a similar problem yesterday after searching for a song somewhere in my library, which replaced the whole queue. After finally restoring the queue back with its original playlist and then going back and adding that searched song, I couldn’t figure out how to re-save the playlist. And after struggling for a while, I resorted to using the Windows Controller app to re-save the playlist back to its original name. The IOS app is not user friendly at all. Thank you.
