Mac OS app - intel based to silicon

I’ve just seen on my Mac (running Tahoe 26.4.1) that the version of Sonos app I have on my computer will not open in future release of MacOS. Running Sonos S2 version 17.2. (the message directs me to an apple website to learn how to update to Apple Silicon version).

I wondered if there will be a solution going forward or is this the end of the app for MacOS?

The S1 Controller is Apple Silicon as well.

Confirmed -- activity monitor reports that it’s “apple” now.

Also the new version is available for download (on the website) if anybody want to archive this version with the installer.

Both S1 & S2 desktop controllers are universal binaries for intel & apple silicon. Intel uses aren’t left out.

As long as you aren't expecting someone to provide a free** app I agree with you.

** Free often includes some nasty data harvesting, scams and other unwanted stuff. Make sure it is really free and not selling your information for hidden profit.

You could of course expect the vendor to provide said app for free, which would be reasonable.

And the vendor does, via the web app. Kindly, they ran their code through a ‘make accessible for Apple Silicon’ process, even though they no longer have programming resources given to the native MacOS and Windows apps.
