Keeping this thread active with another post to show support. The question of why a 3rd party app isn't allowable if Sonos is too backlogged to get to this is valid.
Sonos is very frustrating and limited. All I want to do it route sound from my web browser over the network into my sonos amp. If one can do that on Spotify - surely someone must have figured out a way to do it via Chrome / Firefiz / Safari etc.
Hey Sonos think how neat it would be to have a web based controller, next time one of the hardware companies change things around on you it would keep working.
Seriously, think about it. Even something like a Raspberry Pi Zero W stuffed in a Boost case would be good enough. A 3A would work too if you want hard-wired Ethernet as an option. A dedicated controller design would be great too but that would cost a lot more to develop.
My personal experience: We just fitted four Sonos Play:1s at our web development office fit out. They look and sound good and I immediately started looking at getting some for home.
Then arrive hereto find out I can't control them from my browser? Seems like a big oversight.
+1 and me, i would really like to be able to play web content through my Play:1 speaker.
I watch a lot of sound design tutorials online, but having to listen to them through a laptop speaker really isn’t ideal - the sound on the Sonos speaker is so nice it would be x1000 times better.
Also the ability to listen to BBC Sounds radio shows through it would be amazing, and being able to do it through the browser would mean a lot of us BBC Sounds users would stop bugging them for Android integration with the app ;)
