I don’t think so. I think what may be happening is someone who is setting up the ‘ad’ is ignoring those settings. I usually try to politely inform the moderators that someone missed out the check, since I have no idea if it was intentional or not. But I’m with you, I really don’t want to receive any marketing messages.

AFAICT you can’t turn off the adverts. An adblocker such as pihole will block them though.
