Everytime I open the app it now says it can't find my system despite often a few of my speakers being on and actually streaming bbc sounds. If I wait around 10-15 minutes often the app eventually shows the system and if I'm lucky I can change what the speakers are playing. Everything takes sooooooo long to react, and changing the volume in the app is almost impossible. Changing the speakers individually or trying to group them takes a few goes and is not really worth the amount of time it takes. Luckily one of my speakers is a Roam and I use Alexa when I can. I hate the app and wont be buying Sonos again despite currently having speakers in every room! SO FRUSTRATING! IF I downgrade to Sonos 1 I can't use it for a couple of my speakers!!! Really pissed iff with it
Sounds a lot like you’re having local network issues.
Most often, delays are caused by network issues, between your controller and router, or the router and the speakers. I’d certainly check the wifi interference FAQ, as well as performing a Sonos network refresh, by unplugging your Sonos devices from power (or powering them off, if battery connected), and rebooting your router. Once the router has recovered, power back on your Sonos devices. This will give them both a fresh IP address, as well as a refresh of the Sonos OS. Finally, check your system for updates, in case there are any that need to be applied. You might want to look at your router’s manual, and set up reserved IP addresses. I’d also be tempted to temporarily wire one Sonos device with a cable, just in case, but as I say, thanks likely temporary.
If that doesn’t help, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. But don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR.
There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.
When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

I have to agree, my system was working fine for a while then BOOM it's playing up. Certain speakers dropping out, my MOVE not even connecting even when I've hard reset it 6 times... It is a complete joke…
Al this monies worth sitting in our homs and sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't....
Not good enough SONOS.....
Just get it sorted out for God sake....
Agree - since the update, sometimes Sonos connects with my phone and often it doesn’t. Sits there trying to connect but nothing happens - even after 10mins or so. This is hopeless. Why on earth did I update ??!!

Because Sonos told us the app was an upgrade, that it had all the features and services of the old app.
Go Bluesound - no regrets so far and certainly not missing the frustration of their #crAPP
Nearly a year since they let us all down...

Fair comment, but Bluesound is expensive, even factoring in selling the old Sonos units.
