New version available for Android: 80.07.05. No release notes yet. Installing now.

iPhone update on Apple App Store too. No firmware update yet. Version 80.07.03

First observation is the search window placement in local library has been improved to no longer obscure the folders option at the bottom of the list.

So what exactly did they fix after all this time.  Still get errors when loading queue.  Still no queue management.  Still no local library album art in the queue.  Queue still does no follow the progress; Stays on first page. Don’t see much difference.

Release notes available:

80.07.02 (Android)
80.07.02 (iOS)

Release date: 2024-08-27

In this update:

We're gradually rolling out this update to all users over the coming days. To get this update right away, please update your Sonos app using your device's app store.

  • Accessibility improvements in Settings
  • Setup bug fixes
    • Fix for setup popups appearing for players that are already set up
    • Fix for incorrectly being prompted to connect ethernet during setup
    • Fix for speaker not appearing in app after setup
  • Add Night Mode toggle in Room Settings for sound bars

I am VERY disappointed by their priorities.

I am VERY disappointed by their priorities.

The system not showing speakers, or prompting to install speakers that are already installed (and related issues) are a huge issue for many people on starting up the app. Accessibility is also important - just be thankful it’s not important to you.

Priorities are subjective.

Priorities are subjective.  I agree.  Just question the amount of time all this takes.  I’ve probably had 6 to 7 WiiM Home app updates since the last Sonos update and those updates were tweets not fixes.

Maybe someday I’ll add to the system which at that point the above fixes will be appreciated.  For me now it’s about UI.

For me now it’s about UI.

Hi @MoPac, I am also disappointed with the dearth of UI/UX improvements on Android. For example, local library album art has been MIA since arrival of the new app. I appreciate that isn’t a drop-dead-show-stopper, tho’ it is more than aesthetics: with album art I can navigate without reading glasses (even with reading glasses, I can navigate more quickly with album art).

On iPadOS and Android tablets I sorely miss ‘grid’ album art. Everything is in a linear list, which again is slower to navigate.

Again, I appreciate the need to fix show-stopper bugs! My fear is that the backlog of those could push out UI repair indefinitely.

As an old programmer I can assure you it is much harder to un-screw the mess than it was to screw it up originally.

Then you get to the test group that is probably walking on broken glass after letting the original update out and are testing with an enhanced sense of paranoia.

Having the bean-counters, support folks and the front office calling down every couple hours “just to check in” is probably not helping stress levels.

Hopefully they have two goals, don’t break it worse and fix the worst problems first.

My system [80.07.02 (Android)] now refuses to play from my music library and the feed into my Port no longer plays. I'm reduced to live radio and podcasts.

I've tried going back to an old version that had worked, but that now refuses to run.

Anyone got any ideas as to how to recover my music library?

80.07.05/03

Android picks up local library (always has) and Playlists (back for first time) but only loads my first forty or so. Only thumbnails for tracks no other art.

iPhone as above, but loads full Playlists A-Z possibly around 100+.

Waiting for full functionality on local libraries then (full access to all lists, editing and art) guess apps will appear around each month and it may be  all over by Christmas...

Playlists are found under Sonos Favs and take a while to load.

Library sharper on my home network. Back to what it was.

Services (Amazon Unlimited & Spotify free) fine.
